HyperDeck Extreme makes digital signage easy with its 10G Ethernet for fast media loading and includes a simple remote control protocol.
You can even use it as a field recorder, as it has HDMI, SDI and analog inputs with built-in scopes and 3D LUTs.
Scopes also help with master quality control to ensure standards compliance prior to transmission.
CONVERT OLD SHOWS FOR STREAMING
With the popularization of streaming services, preserving cultural diversity through the conservation of localized content is increasingly important.
The solution is to make old shows available on streaming services for an affordable price. HyperDeck Extreme Control lets you control old broadcast decks, set in/out points, and edit.
Simply add a HyperDeck Extreme and HyperDeck Extreme Control to each deck to keep them all archiving constantly with a single operator.
You can even edit with multiple formats by using a Teranex Express to convert tapes from SD to HD in just one step.
You can control a wide range of decks, such as Digital Betacam 1, 1" C format, and Betacam SP.
RECORD AND PLAYBACK 8K AT FULL RESOLUTION
The HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR model features quad-link 12G-SDI, so you can record and playback 8K at full resolution in incredible quality.
SDI connections are multi-rate, so you can use quad 12G-SDI for compatibility with other 8K products, or switch to SD, HD or UHD using only the single-link 12G-SDI connection.
To make it possible to use common CFast cards for high-resolution 8K recording, HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR uses H.265 files for 8K recording and playback.
This is perfect for connecting the latest 8K televisions and projectors.
Plus, it's the perfect solution when using ATEM switchers.
With 8K streaming already happening, you'll be ready for the 8K future !
LARGE, BRIGHT DISPLAY FOR EASY TOUCH CONTROL
The innovative interface with touch-sensitive LCD gives you incredible control.
There are buttons to play, cease and record, as well as a mini-timeline to navigate through the recordings.
You can even drag images to move forward and backward at intervals.
The LCD displays timecode, video pattern, media status, and audio meters.
There's also a wide range of settings, all controlled via LCD.
In addition, it can load and save 3D LUTs. To top it off, there are direct buttons for the transport control, 3D LUTs and remote control.
Still, you can add traditional deck controls with a HyperDeck Extreme Control.
CLASSIC BROADCAST DECK CONTROLS
HyperDeck Extreme Control expands on HyperDeck Extreme by adding traditional deck controls.
It doubles as a broadcast deck with a familiar layout.
You can control up to 8 decks via the standard RS-422 control.
You can even rack mount it with HyperDeck Extreme to create a single broadcast deck unit.
Because it uses RS-422, you can control old broadcast decks and make edits using In and Out points.
This is ideal for archival work.
In addition, you can edit between different frame rates if you convert standards between formats.
The controls were developed by Blackmagic Design itself to ensure superior operation with a traditional style .
DUAL CFAST MEDIA FOR UNINTERRUPTED RECORDING
Support for CFast media makes it possible to write to readily available flash memory cards.
H.265 files are small enough to allow long recordings to standard CFast cards. In addition, there are 2 CFast slots so you can swap out full cards even during a recording, allowing for infinite-length recordings.
CFast cards are ideal for broadcasting because they are small, fast, and affordable.
You can even use a Blackmagic MultiDock 10G to add compatibility with SSDs.
With H.265, you can record 1,398 minutes at 8Kp60 on a 1TB card, 3,530 minutes at 2160p60 Ultra HD, and 9,446 minutes at 1089p59.94 on a 1TB card.
That's over 23 hours in 8K and over 6 days in HD!
RECORD DIRECTLY TO USB-C EXTREME DRIVES
If you need to record to other types of media, the USB-C expansion port allows you to connect an external flash drive.
USB-C flash drives have a huge capacity, as they are not restricted by size.
Plus, you can record to the same drive you're using or editing on, so you don't have to waste time copying files before starting post-production.
Flash drives are so fast that they can record formats with high data rates that are too large for CFast cards, such as ProRes in 4K or 8K in real time.
Adding a Blackmagic MultiDock 10G also makes it easier to use SSDs for compatibility with other HyperDeck models.
You also get touchscreen menus, which make it easy to manage the external drives .
OPTIONAL MEDIA CACHING ELIMINATES DROPPED FRAMES
Often, your media may fill up before you replace it with an empty card, or if the card is too slow, frame discards may occur.
To work around this problem, you can install a PCIe flash drive as a cache writer on HyperDeck Extreme.
This eliminates problems with CFast media or external disks, with the cache automatically taking over and writing content that the media could not capture. Even if a card fills up, the write will continue to be cached until it is changed.
The cache even allows you to record formats that are too fast for the media card or external disk.
Common PCI and flash drives are used and thermal protection is included to enable user installation .
12G-SDI, HDMI, AND LEGACY ANALOG SUPPORT
HyperDeck Extreme includes various video and audio connections, such as multi-rate 12G-SDI for SDI devices in SD, HD, Ultra HD, and 8K.
12G-SDI outputs support fill and key when playing 4:4:4:4 RGBA files.
HDMI is included for home TVs and video projectors.
For archiving, HyperDeck also features balanced analog audio, HiFi audio, and timecode connections.
For monitoring, there is even a down-conversion SDI output that includes overlays.
The USB-C connection allows you to connect flash drives or disk arrays for recording.
Next-generation 10G Ethernet is included for fast uploads using FTP protocols.
There are also AC and XLR DC 12 V power connections.
ADVANCED HDR SUPPORT AND BRIGHT WIDE-GAMUT LCD
You'll be ready for the latest HDR workflows with support for the latest HDR standards and a supremely bright display with a wide color gamut.
Files are tagged with the correct HDR information so that the SDI and HDMI inputs automatically detect HDR video patterns.
The PQ and HLG static metadata formats are handled according to the ST 2084 standard.
The bright LCD screen has a wider color gamut, and can support Rec.2020 and Rec.709 color spaces.
HyperDeck Extreme's HDR colour gamut built into the LCD is capable of handling up to 100% of the DCI-P3 format .
12G-SDI MULTI-RATE FOR SD, HD AND ULTRA HD AND NATIVE 8K
You get full support for the most popular video standards.
SDI and HDMI connections are multi-rate, so they operate SD, HD, Ultra HD and 8K.
SD formats include NTSC and PAL. HD 720p standards include 720p50 and 59.94p.
Interlaced HD 1080i formats include 1080i50 and 59.94.
HD 1080p formats include 1080p23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60p.
It is even possible to work with PsF 1080 formats. Ultra HD is supported up to 2160p59.94.
DCI 2K and 4K rates are available at up to 25p.
The HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR model adds 8K standards like 4320p23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 50, 50.94, and 60p.
All models support Level A and B at 3G-SDI rates .
STANDARD H.265E PRORES FILES FOR WIDE COMPATIBILITY
8K has four times as many pixels as Ultra HD, so HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR takes advantage of H.265 files to record in 8K with reduced file sizes and easy-to-use 8K files.
H.265 files are tiny, with compression ratios between 60:1 to 285:1, which means much smaller file sizes.
In addition, H.265 is now compatible with major operating systems.
HyperDeck Extreme also supports ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT for recording and playback, as well as ProRes 4444 for playback and fill and key output.
Therefore, the files will be compatible with apps such as DaVinci Resolve, Media Composer, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro.
PROFESSIONAL MULTI-CHANNEL ANALOG AND SDI AUDIO
HyperDeck Extreme includes professional audio for modern broadcasters or for archiving with older broadcast decks.
When working in SDI formats, you can record 2, 4, 8 , or 16 channels of audio in real time.
To capture older programs, there are four analog audio XLR inputs that allow you to record all four channels from Betacam SP decks.
You can monitor using four on-screen audio meters with VU or PPM ballistics.
For home devices such as VHS, DVD, and set-top boxes, there are direct inputs for HiFi audio.
HyperDeck Extreme models use the latest broadcast technology, but analog connections have also been developed for the low-noise, low-distortion standards of professional broadcasts .
LOCALIZED FOR POPULAR LANGUAGES
Multiple languages are fully supported, so you don't need to learn another language to use the software.
English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, and Turkish are supported.
On first launch, HyperDeck Extreme will display the language selection menu, however, you can use the menus to change languages whenever needed.
When a language is selected, the text overlays on the screen change, as do all the menus and SDI monitoring overlays.
All of this means that HyperDeck is perfect for working on international locations with different teams !
THE FASTEST NETWORK WITH MODERN 10G ETHERNET
With 10G Ethernet, HyperDeck Extreme is perfect for digital signage because remote uploads are ultra-fast.
Ethernet uploads on HyperDeck Extreme are much faster than CFast card transfer rates!
Both models use a simple text-based protocol, and you can use Telnet to test control commands.
Just log in to HyperDeck, type "Play" or "Record", and it will execute the command.
It's that simple!
To upload media files remotely, you can use FTP or an FTP client software.
When Ethernet and FTP protocols are used with large USB-C arrays, HyperDeck Extreme becomes a broadcast server for ingestion, media management, and playout.
RS-422 TRADITIONAL BROADCAST DECK CONTROL
The most popular control connection used on broadcast decks since the early 1980s is the RS-422 protocol.
Designed by Sony, the RS-422 is used in almost all broadcast equipment.
HyperDeck Extreme offers broad protocol support so you can connect it directly to broadcast systems.
It also supports additional commands for the Advanced Media Protocol for managing disc burners.
When developing RS-422 control solutions, you will confirm the HyperDeck Extreme connection when viewing the 0xF0E0 ID in 30/60p, 0xF1E0 in 25/50p, or 0xF2E0 in 24p.
The full set of remote control support is included in the manual, available on the technical support page of our website.
COMPATIBLE WITH CONTROLLERS, SWITCHERS, CONVERTERS AND MORE!
There are a wide variety of Blackmagic Design products that can be used with HyperDeck Extreme, including HyperDeck Extreme Control to add traditional broadcast deck controls.
Plus, it uses the industry-standard RS-422 control protocol so it works with any broadcast deck.
Add the new Blackmagic MultiDock 10G to utilize common SSDs for compatibility with other HyperDeck media models.
HyperDeck Extreme is also an ideal mastering recorder for ATEM Constellation 8K or for playing back clips and ISO recordings.
For monitoring, Teranex SDI to HDMI 8K enables broadcast monitoring on a TV and offers monitor calibration, 3D LUTs, and on-screen scopes.
