Creative Looks modes for greater expression in camera
Creative Looks parameter combinations can be used as presets or customized using eight adjustable parameters. There are now 12 presets, including the cinematic FL, FL2 and FL3 aspects, which offer a wide range of colours, colour depth, brightness, contrast and sharpness.
Instantly switch between three viewing angles with the Step Crop Shooting function
The Step Crop Shooting function allows you to switch between 35mm (60MP), 50mm (29MP) and 70mm (15MP) equivalents with one-touch operation. Even when you can't get close to your subject, you can shoot with a 70mm equivalent while maintaining a high resolution of 15MP.
True-to-life color
Stable and accurate Auto Exposure (AE) allows you to detect areas of facial skin and automatically adjust exposure for optimal brightness and tone, even when the face is against the light, in bright direct sunlight or turned to the side.
High sensitivity, low noise and extraordinary resolution
The standard ISO range is 100-32,000 for stills and movies, expandable to ISO 102,400 for stills. The dynamic range at low sensitivities is impressive at 15 stops, which translates into smooth, natural gradations.
Human Pose Estimation Technology
The RX1R III performs human pose estimation using the innovative AI processing unit. Learned human shapes and postures help to recognize not only the eyes, but also the position of the body and head with high accuracy. This allows you to accurately lock on and track a wide variety of objects, even if they are facing away from the camera or wearing sunglasses or a helmet, for example.
Accurate recognition of a wide range of objects
The AI processing unit supports the recognition of Humans, Animals, Birds, Insects, Cars/Trains and Planes. The same object recognition is available for stills and movies, and an [Auto] mode simplifies operation by allowing the camera to automatically select the subject type. [Auto] mode reliably selects the subject in most cases, allowing the user to concentrate solely on composition and shooting.
Smarter real-time tracking
Optimized, more reliable AI-based real-time tracking simplifies shooting, leaving you free to focus on framing and compositing. The RX1R III follows people with helmets or animals facing away from the camera.
Wide, high-density AF for stable subject shooting
693 phase-detection points in a high-density focal-plane phase-detection AF system cover approximately 78% of the image area when shooting, achieving accurate focus even when the subject is small. Sony's Fast Hybrid AF system combines the speed and tracking capabilities of phase-detection AF with the precision of contrast AF.
Precise AF with low EV -4.0 light
The latest AF algorithms achieve high-precision AF at light levels as low as EV-4.0 in AF-S mode (ISO 100 equivalent). AF is accurate and reliable even in low light.
Solid design
To improve portability and readiness to react and capture any moment, the top panel is flat, with protrusion-free dials and a vertical, flat Multi Interface (MI) stand. Precision-engineered components and meticulously crafted textures have been integrated into a sophisticated design that conveys robustness and density while remaining highly functional, lightweight and easy to use.
Functional tactile grip
The careful design of the positioning and convexity of the main rhomboid-convex shaped texture, combined with the new side square micro-protrusions, provides a comfortable and non-slip tactile feel.
Black metallic coating
A new matte coating conveys a uniform feel with a dense roughness, creating a balance between composition, density and tactile impression. A greater sense of robustness and control highlights the camera's character.
Detailed Viewfinder
This high-resolution, high-contrast XGA OLED electronic display features approximately 2.36 million dots and a magnification of about 0.70x.
High resolution monitor
The large 3.0-type touchscreen LCD panel with approximately 2.36 million dots used on the RX1R III includes "Sunny Weather" mode for better visibility in bright conditions, as well as allowing manual adjustment to suit any ambient lighting. The operation of the tactile menu is fluid and responsive. When the camera is in standby mode, swiping up on the monitor panel reveals the function menu (Fn) for quick access.
Displaying Vertical Capture Information
Information from the LCD monitor and viewfinder automatically adapts to the camera's horizontal and vertical orientations, increasing clarity and simplifying operation in a wide variety of shooting situations.

The RX1R III's outer frame is made of a lightweight and rigid magnesium alloy, which contributes to both performance and practicality. This cutting-edge material maximizes the durability of the body while allowing for a remarkably lightweight and compact camera design.

The NP-FW50 rechargeable battery allows you to capture up to 300 images on a single charge, and a USB Type-C connector compatible with USB PD (Power Delivery) allows for fast charging from a PD-compatible power source.
LHP-1 Umbrella
An essential accessory to prevent glare and other unwanted artifacts when capturing in bright light, the LHP-1 lens hood also protects the lens from dust, fingerprints, and impacts. Bayonet-type attachment allows for quick and easy assembly and removal.
TG-2 thumb grip
This handy and attractive thumb grip attaches to the camera's Multi Interface Mount, improving comfort and stability, and even making it easy to shoot with one hand. The thumb grip visually matches the overall design of the RXIR III, giving it the feeling of being an integrated component of the camera when installed. Direct upload with the Creators' App
The Creators' App allows you to easily transfer images to a smartphone or to Sony's Creators' Cloud Web service. It is also possible to transfer images from the camera to a smartphone wirelessly via Wi-Fi or a wired USB connection.
