ARS-IMAGO MONOBATH B/W Film Developer
The Monobath allows simultaneous development and fixation of a B/W film – very easily and conveniently.
As the name suggests, a fixer developer is a unique solution that combines the actions of development and fixing.
There is no need for separate stop and hold baths. With this type of development, the tilt rate, the temperature (as long as it is between 20° and 25°) and other process conditions are not relevant.
By mixing part A with part B, the chemistry is ready to use and lasts for more than 14 days and also allows for the development of up to 15 films.
The developer achieves beautiful results with medium-high contrast and balanced tones at a temperature between 20° and 25°.
Practical: one working solution, 10 minutes and your film is developed!
Economical: high performance
Efficient: high contrasts, beautiful results
Tip for durability
Once the two monobath solutions are mixed, the chemicals begin to react with each other. If stored in this way for too long, dark sediment will accumulate at the bottom of the containers. These should be carefully separated from the rest of the liquid (using a coffee filter or by decanting carefully). After that, the monobath can continue to be used. We guarantee the flawless operation of the chemistry for two weeks and 15 films. However, our current experience shows that the monobath can be used for longer and for more films, but the results may vary.
Instructions for use
Storage
After mixing part A and part B (1+1), you can reuse the solution several times over the course of two weeks. The recommended development time is 8 minutes with an incline pace of 10 seconds per minute.
Dilution
To obtain a dilute 1:1 solution, the solution (A+B) is mixed with the same amount of water. We recommend using this dilution as a single development, although according to current ars-imago testing, multiple use of this solution is also possible. The recommended development time is 10 minutes with an incline pace of 10 seconds per minute.
Temperature:
The temperature is not relevant as long as it is between 20° and 25°.
Washing
Rinse normally after development.
Findings
The best results are obtained with standard cubic grain films such as lford Hp5 and Fp4, Kodak Tri-x, Rollei RPX, Fomapan or Kentmere.
Use with T-Grain films such as Ilford Delta or Kodak T-Max is not recommended.
It is an easy, fast and efficient solution to develop and fix black and white films at the same time with just one chemical bath.
