Created by and for nature photographers, the Buteo Photo Gear Floating Hide Grebe II was born from real experience in the field. After countless hours of testing with the first version, every feedback and insight from photographers helped shape this improved design. The result? A floating hideout smarter, tougher and more comfortable than ever. It lets you get up close and personal with wildlife—quietly and naturally—so you can capture the perfect shot.
Large windows
The viewing windows are now larger, both front and back. Above and next to the snoot, you have an even better view, without giving up camouflage or protection against insects. Each window closes with a magnetic closure and stays open easily with a handle. It's fast, quiet, and saves valuable time when every second counts.
Balanced handles
The new side handles are perfectly balanced, making transport smoother and more comfortable, even when you're carrying all your gear on rough terrain.
Store your accessories safely
Accessory pouches are still part of the set, but are now waterproof (except for the zippers). Each measures 20 x 13 x 13 cm, offering plenty of space for small essentials. Attach them to the front or back, in a way that best suits your shooting style.
Ultra-fast assembly
The improved foot pump is tougher and built to last. Assembly is quick and easy: inflate the two air chambers, attach the mounting plate and tripod head, attach the safety net and bags, open the tent with the umbrella system and attach it to the tube. That's it! You can now photograph. Note: A detailed user manual is included. Take a moment to read it carefully before you begin. Safety always comes first.
Durable and sturdy
The PVC material is strong and durable — the same quality used in inflatable boats. Two independent air chambers provide maximum safety. The tapered ends are reinforced with extra camouflage and each attachment point is double secure for added reliability and durability.
Waterproof fabric
D-rings allow you to attach nets, bags or extra accessories. The tent fabric is made of 150D polyester with a 2,500mm water column, keeping you dry in the rain.
Hidden from your object of focus
The natural camouflage design allows you to get incredibly close to birds and mammals without disturbing them. They don't recognize him as human, giving him the chance to capture impressive close-ups in his natural behavior. The reed pattern tent fabric includes multiple attachment points to add branches, reeds, or an extra camouflage net. With 20 sets of bows and ropes, it camouflages perfectly in the environment.
Stay safe
- Before leaving:
- Inspect your hiding place carefully — safety first. Know the depth of the water, set your shooting goals and check access permissions. Visit the place in advance to study the light and plan your session. The better you prepare, the smoother your experience will be.
- When entering the water:
- Choose a quiet, hidden entry point away from people and animals. Mount your gear safely on the shore, then enter the water through the reeds or vegetation to keep a low profile. Use the side handles to carry and, once in the water, pull the hiding place gently with the front handle or secure it with a rope.

Note
The windows are not waterproof, so a little water can get through them during heavy rains.
