When an Apollo light modifier is mounted on a studio light, the studio light actually fits inside the Apollo unit. The benefit of this is that the light can be plastered onto the back for softer diffusion, either indirectly or directly from the front diffusion panel for a more specular result. However, if you are using a mono style light where the controls are on the back of the light head and you want to maintain access to those controls, this accessory is a must.
