Ricoh introduces its Ricoh GF-2 external flash. With a maximum guide number of 3 to 100 ISO, this ultra-portable flash offers an automatic mode function when attached to the body of the Ricoh GR IV.
Lightweight and compact design
Designed for use with the Ricoh GR IV, but also compatible with the GR III and GR IIIx, the GF-2 features an incredibly small and lightweight body, allowing it to be carried chamber-mounted without compromising its portability.
Fast and effortless operation
Mounted on the Ricoh GR IV and with the camera set to ISO Auto Flash mode, the new flash allows the camera to automatically adjust its guide number and ISO sensitivity depending on the distance to the subject. Thanks to this automatic mode, the Ricoh GR IV offers faster flash image capture.
When used on a RICOH GR series model other than the GR IV, the GF-2 operates only in full discharge mode, due to the arrangement of the flash contacts (except the X-sync contact), which differs from that of the GR IV. The new firmware is expected to be available in October 2025.
Built-in lithium battery
The new flash incorporates a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be
powered via a USB-C port. Even when the camera battery
is almost discharged, the GF-2's built-in battery adjusts the level of
flash shooting.
