The 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD lens (model A057) not only offers high image quality, but also provides high operating convenience. Despite the remarkable focal length of 500mm, it is very comfortable to use with a length of only 209.6mm and a maximum diameter of 93mm. As the first Tamron lens for full-frame cameras with Sony E-Mount, it is equipped with a VC image stabilizer, which enables sharp ultra-telephoto freehand shots. The optical structure is composed of 25 elements in 16 groups, including several special glasses and hybrid spheres for correction of optical aberrations. The lenses' BBAR-G2 coating minimizes flare inside the lens and suppresses ghosting images and lens flare, which are particularly common in backlit shots. With a focal length of 150mm, the closest focal length is 0.6m, which means the lens is also suitable for stunning close-ups. The 150-500mm F/5-6.7 lens features a VXD autofocus with a powerful linear motor. The advantages of VXD technology lie in the high speed and accuracy of focusing. Autofocus reacts at the speed of light and reliably focuses on dynamic subjects such as athletes, fast vehicles, wildlife, or birds. The linear motor works quietly and with low vibration, so the lens is suitable for both photo and video recording.
VC image stabilization for sharp and detailed ultra-telephoto freehand shots
When shooting with long focal lengths, even the slightest camera shakes and vibrations can lead to blurry results. The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is therefore equipped with an image stabilization system that allows for sharp shots even without a tripod, compensating for unwanted camera movements. The VC Image Stabilizer is particularly advantageous with ultra-telephoto and low-light shots, for example at night or indoors. Depending on the reason, three VC configurations are available, including a "pull-along mode".
