Magnificent G Master resolution
The high spatial resolution allows for a detailed image at the edges throughout the 16-35mm zoom range, even at full lens aperture. The five aspherical elements include three of XA (extreme aspherical) and aberration is effectively controlled by a fantastic combination of high resolution and stunning bokeh.
Extraordinary resolution and bokeh
Beautiful, smooth bokeh is made possible by the F2.8 maximum aperture, innovative optical design and advanced 11-blade aperture unit. The FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II offers great close-up performance with a minimum focusing distance of 0.22 m (0.73 ft) throughout the zoom range and a maximum magnification of 0.32x. Refined for stunning movie images
Reduced focus breathing and focus and axial shifts when zooming in enables smooth movie images. XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors and the advanced aperture unit reduce noise and vibration. The low-variance center of gravity contributes to agile and stable manual shooting and eliminates the need for readjustments after changing the zoom setting when using a gimbal.
Smooth, precise, quiet and ultra-fast AF
The FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II uses a floating focus mechanism with four original XD linear motors and precise lens control for up to twice as fast AF. Continuous shooting at up to 30fps is possible with Sony's α1 body. It reliably acquires focus and smoothly tracks subjects, achieving crucial focus for 4K/8K slow-motion movies.
World's smallest and lightest in its class
Although it's the world's smallest and lightest F2.8 16-35mm zoom lens, the FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II offers excellent image quality, thanks to XA elements and Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass in an advanced optical design. The lightweight high-thrust XD linear motors further reduce the overall weight – just 547 g. It's about 20% lighter than the FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM. It has a compact overall length of 111.5 mm.
Professional control and reliability
ON/OFF and lock-on switches offer flexible aperture control, and two focus hold buttons provide convenient access for horizontal and vertical shooting. You can assign functions to the focus hold buttons in the body menus. All joints are structureally sealed, the buttons have silicone rubber gaskets, and a rubber ring seals the lens mount to protect against dust and moisture.
