Overwhelming resolving power
In addition to two SLD glass elements, high anomalous dispersion glass is used to suppress the axial chromatic aberration inherent in large-aperture lenses as much as possible. Aspherical elements further correct spherical aberration and sagittal coma reflection. The lens has reliably high resolving power from the maximum aperture, fully enhancing the rendering that only f/1.2 can offer. It captures every detail of the subject's expression and texture, taking the quality of both stills and video to a higher level.

Bokeh that makes the theme stand out
The combination of a large-aperture f/1.2 and an 85mm mid-telephoto lens offers an extremely shallow depth of field and beautiful, rich bokeh. The adoption of a 13-blade diaphragm maintains near-circular bokeh even when the aperture is closed. The natural rendering of bokeh that suppresses color bleeding and dual-line bokeh make the subject stand out impressively, bringing overwhelming three-dimensionality and immersion to portraits and video work.

Flare and ghosting, which reduce image quality, are addressed in all incident light conditions, based on the most advanced simulation technology. High backlight resistance enables clear and sharp images in any lighting condition.

By effectively arranging the aspherical lens elements within the focus groups, the number of lens elements that make up the focus unit has been significantly reduced. Despite incorporating a complex floating mechanism, a precise mechanical design, reduced to the absolute minimum has achieved the lowest and lightest weight in its class - 905g. It can be used comfortably even during long shoots or in situations that require mobility, dramatically increasing agility on set.

Fast and quiet autofocus with dual HLA
Fast, quiet AF, driven by dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator), delivers reliable tracking performance for both stills and video. Even with the shallow depth of field of the f/1.2 maximum aperture, it captures the subject accurately, allowing for smooth, accurate shooting in any scene.

Designed to minimize focused breathing
Optimising the arrangement of focus groups and aspherical shape significantly suppresses focus breathing. Changing the angle of view due to focus shift is minimised, creating a natural-looking focus shift during video recording.

Various shooting assist functions
The lens is equipped with an AFL button in two places, which can be assigned to various functions via the menu on selected cameras. In addition to the aperture ring, the lens is equipped with an aperture ring lock switch and a click switch to turn the click on and off.

Resistant to external elements
In addition to a dust and splash resistant structure, the front surface of the lens has a water- and oil-repellent coating, so the lens can be used safely even in harsh outdoor environments.
