PANASONIC Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 L-Mount
The five F1.8 prime lenses in the full-frame LUMIX S series, which include the 85mm (S-S85), 50mm (S-S50), 35mm (S-S35), 24mm (S-S24) and the newly released 18mm (S-S18) lenses, are similar in size and in control arrangement.
Its centre of gravity is almost identical, so when the camera is mounted on a platform or gimbal, the lenses can be quickly swapped out with minimal balance adjustment.

Thanks to its wide angle of view, the new 18mm lens is perfect for a wide range of applications, such as landscapes, astronomy and architecture.
In addition, the close focus adjustment of 0.18m extends the possibilities for working at short distances.
CONSTRUCTION
The new LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 lens consists of 13 lenses spread across 12 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses, 3 ED (extra-low dispersion) lenses, 1 UED (ultra-extra-low dispersion) lens, and 1 UHR (ultra-high refractive index) lens.
The 3 aspherical lenses ensure high image performance, just like all F1.8 series lenses, while the 3 ED lenses effectively reduce chromatic aberration. In addition, the 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm provides a beautiful bokeh effect .
FOCUSING
This new model runs smoothly and quietly when working with the camera's AF system, with the ultra-fast sensor up to 240fps.
For non-linear adjustment, the focus moves according to the rotation speed of the focus ring, while for linear adjustment, it moves according to a specific amount, according to the rotation of the focus ring.
The degree of focus shift relative to the angle of rotation can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees, in 30-degree intervals, to achieve the desired focus*1.
When shooting video, a lens mechanism suppresses focus breathing, one of the most common problems with interchangeable lenses.
Together with micro-stepping aperture control, which offers smooth exposure shifting, the new S-S18 lens can record professional-quality video.
COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN
With its compact design and light weight of 340g, the lens stands out for its mobility, especially on the LUMIX S5, currently Panasonic's smallest full-frame model .
In addition, its dust and splash resistant design*2 allows it to be used in harsh conditions, including at -10 degrees centigrade.
