PANASONIC Leica DG Summilux 9mm f/1.7 ASPH
Panasonic is pleased to introduce a new large-aperture ultra-wide prime lens, the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm f/1.7 (35mm camera equivalent: 18mm) for the LUMIX G Series based on the Micro Four Thirds standard.
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm (H-X09) is an unrivalled lens that features an exceptionally short focusing distance of 0.095m with an excellent magnification ratio of 0.25x (35mm camera equivalent: 0.5x).
The combination of these exceptional abilities makes it possible to emphasise the presence of a subject in the sweeping background.
It also features high descriptive performance and smooth, beautiful bokeh in photos and video, eliminating stringent LEICA standards.
LENS CONSTRUCTION
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 is composed of twelve lens elements in nine groups, including two aspherical lenses, two ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses, and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens to effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and chromatic magnification aberration.
Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolution performance.
In addition, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image while contributing to the reduction of the size of the lens unit.
The filter diameter is 55mm, with a 7-blade circular aperture diaphragm.
SMOOTH OPERATION
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 is capable of smooth and quiet operation to work with the camera's AF system at max.240 fps.
For the nonlinear setup, the focus is shifted with a variable amount according to the rotational speed of the focus ring while the focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring for the linear setup.
The sensitivity (the amount of focus change per quantum rotation) can be selected from 90 to 360º 1in 30 degrees to allow for the intended focus operation.
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still-image photography.
Coupled with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional-quality video can be recorded.
COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN
With its compact size and light weight of approximately 130g, the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 encompasses the impressive mobility of the Micro Four Thirds system.
The rugged dust/splash resistant design stands up to use in harsh conditions, even at minus 10 degrees Celsius, for maximum reliability.
