Ultra-wide f/2 aperture
The ultra-wide f/2 aperture provides exceptional speed and versatility. It allows the use of faster shutter speeds, ensuring sharp images even in moving scenes. It also offers superior low-light performance, producing clean and detailed photos without the need to raise the ISO.
Striking bokeh and three-dimensional effect
With its f/2 aperture and powerful 200mm compression, this lens creates wide, smooth, and engaging bokeh. The result is a stunning three-dimensional effect, where the subject stands out strongly against beautifully blurred backgrounds — perfect for portraits, sports and visual storytelling.
Lighter than other lenses in its class
Weighing just 1.59kg, the Laowa 200mm f/2 is significantly lighter than most equivalent lenses, which typically range between 1.8kg and 3kg. This lighter design reduces fatigue on long sessions, offering greater comfort, mobility, and creative freedom without compromising professional optical performance.
Fast and accurate autofocus
Designed for speed and precision, the lens features fast and highly reliable autofocus, capable of locking focus with ease even on moving subjects. Ideal for sports, wildlife, and dynamic events, the AF system ensures you don't miss any decisive moments.
Minimum short focus distance
With a minimum focusing distance of just 150 cm (4.92 ft) — the shortest among similarly specced lenses — you can get closer to your subject and capture details with great clarity. This also intensifies background blur, increasing separation from the main subject and offering greater flexibility for creative close-ups and mid-range compositions.
Well-controlled chromatic aberration
The advanced optical design minimizes chromatic aberration, ensuring clean edges, accurate colors, and excellent image quality even in high-contrast scenes.
43mm rear filter holder
The integrated 43mm rear filter holder offers a practical and cost-effective solution for the use of ND filters and creative filters. As a compact alternative to the large 105 mm front filters, it reduces weight and cost while maintaining professional results and optimizing workflow.
Note: Only available for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts. Filter thickness must be less than 1.5mm.
Customizable FN buttons
FN buttons allow you to assign frequently used functions such as ISO, white balance, autofocus mode, or shooting mode for quick and efficient access while shooting.
Focus limiter:
Full range or 5 m–∞
In the Full setting, the lens uses the entire focus range. The 5 m–∞ setting restricts autofocus to distant subjects, speeding up focus and facilitating fast and accurate tracking of distant objects.
Focus mode dial
Easily switch between autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF), adapting the lens to your shooting style and creative intent.
Adjustable and integrated lens mount
The adjustable lens mount makes it easy to switch between camera orientations while maintaining stability and balance. It is compatible with the Arca-Swiss system, allowing direct mounting on tripods without additional accessories.
Compatibility with EF–RF autofocus adapters
Some commercially available EF to RF adapters allow EF lenses to work with autofocus on Canon RF cameras, expanding versatility for photographers who want to migrate between systems without giving up their lenses.
