Moreover, this camera can capture 32MP photos in Photo mode.
The EOS C50 integrates seamlessly into virtually any production environment, offering flexibility and excellent image quality in a package that fits practically in the palm of your hand.
NEWLY DEVELOPED 7K FULL FRAME CMOS SENSOR
The EOS C50 has a newly developed 7K full-frame CMOS sensor.
The sensor offers exceptionally low noise, allowing it to excel in a wide variety of lighting situations and maximizing the camera's full dynamic range.
The high resolution and realism of 7K allow for richer creative expression as well as greater flexibility in workflows, including 4K 60P with oversampling.
3:2 FULL-FRAME "OPEN GATE" SENSOR MODE
The EOS C50 is the first Cinema EOS camera to offer open-gate recording options, using all sensor dimensions.
By selecting Full Frame 3:2 in the Sensor Mode section of the main menu, you can record using the entire sensor area, and then use that information in post-production to crop and reframe the footage to the aspect ratio of your choice.
This is especially useful when shooting with full-frame anamorphic lenses.
SUPPORT FOR DECOMPRESSION OF ANAMORPHIC LENSES
Anamorphic lenses have an elongated rear element that makes it possible to use flare and bokeh effects that cannot be achieved with ordinary lenses.
The EOS C50 offers decompression magnification options, including OFF/2x/1.8x/1.5x/1.3x.
DUAL BASE ISO
The EOS C50's full-frame 7K sensor offers dual base ISO, which allows the camera to produce stunning images in a wide range of lighting conditions.
With base ISOs of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2, you'll be able to maximize the full dynamic range of the sensor in virtually any shooting scenario.
The camera also features Auto Select, which automatically switches between one of the two base ISO levels to another while maintaining dynamic range.
INTERNAL 7K 60P RAW RECORDING AND HIGH FRAME RATE 4K 120P RECORDING
The EOS C50 can record up to 7K 60P Cinema RAW Light with three additional 12-bit Cinema RAW Light recording modes: HQ, ST and LT.
Other recording options include our standard XF-AVC codec, which records in 10-bit 4:2:2, creating rich detail and smooth images at frame rates up to 120P, without cropping the sensor image. For slow or fast motion recording, the EOS C50 supports up to 4K 120P and 2K 180P.
In addition, the C50 has the XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S recording codecs.
These formats have an easy-to-manage naming system and folder structure, as well as record in the well-known MP4 format and preserve metadata.
HIGH FRAME RATE RECORDING WITH AUTOFOCUS AND SUBJECT DETECTION
The camera's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II allows you to keep your subject in focus during slow or fast shooting at speeds up to 4K/120P or 2K/150P.
This will help ensure that even at high frame rates, the subject remains in sharp focus.
SIMULTANEOUS RECORDING OF HARVESTS
When shooting for social media, an added benefit of the camera is that it allows simultaneous crop recording when shooting in 4K DCI or UHD, allowing you to record in your chosen aspect ratio while also recording a cropped portion of the frame in 2K.
When shooting in simultaneous crop mode, you have up to three format options, depending on your shooting mode: 9:17, 9:16, or 1:1. This will help reduce turnaround time when formatting videos for different deliverables.
DUAL CARD SLOTS
The EOS C50's CFexpress (Type B) and SD card slots allow simultaneous recording, even in RAW.
All recording options are recorded in the camera's CFexpress slot, with sub-recording and proxy options available in the SD card slot.
DUAL PIXEL AF II CMOS
The EOS C50 supports the next generation of Canon's acclaimed Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus system, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. The camera's sensor offers excellent efficiency in capturing light, extending the sensor's autofocus area to approximately 100% by 100%.
The object detection algorithm utilizes deep learning technology. Face/eye detection can now be configured with priority for the left or right eye, in both humans and animals. In addition, Animal Detection AF now includes birds as well.
VERTICAL TRIGGER INTERFACE
When shooting vertically, the EOS C50's screen can be switched to a user interface that supports vertical photography.
It also supports touch controls to start/stop recording from the vertical screen mode.
Along with the shooting interface, the menu settings and LCD brightness adjustments have also been reoriented to vertical shooting, providing an easy-to-read layout.
LIGHTWEIGHT AND COMPACT BODY DESIGN, INCLUDING DETACHABLE STRAP WITH BUILT-IN XLR INPUTS, RECORDING AND ZOOM CONTROL
The EOS C50 is the smallest and lightest EOS Cinema camera to date. The lightweight and compact body makes it easy to shoot in tight spaces, with greater freedom of angles and movements, and reduces fatigue even during long handheld shots.
Thanks to its flat, linear design with few protruding parts, you can easily attach a microphone, gear, gimbal, or other accessories to customize the camera in a variety of ways to suit your photography style.
The included strap can also be attached to shoot objects from a low or crooked angle, allowing for more diverse and flexible visuals. The handle also contains two integrated, full-size, 3-pin XLR inputs with 48V phantom power for recording high-quality audio with an external microphone. Additionally, the handle comes with a start/stop button and a zoom button.
ETHERNET AND WI-FI® CONTROL
Built-in Wi-Fi® enables IP-based remote control of Canon's XC Protocol. Compatible third-party USB-to-Ethernet adapters also offer additional connectivity options.
The XC Protocol maximizes operability and remote control of camera settings. Using XC Protocol, the camera can be operated by Canon's RC-IP1000 and RC-IP100 controllers (sold separately), and XC Protocol-enabled third-party remote control (RCP) panels can shadow the camera remotely.
In addition, the camera remote control app and the multi-camera control app The camera also features SRT protocol, allowing IP streaming of video and audio.
CAMERA INTEGRATION WITH THE ADOBE FRAME CLOUD. IO
The camera has native compatibility with Frame.io's Camera-to-Cloud (C2C) technology. This feature allows you to send proxy files immediately after internal recording, directly from the camera, for a faster, more secure path from production to post-production. Powerful proxy files require no additional processing or conversion and are available for remote viewing, sharing, and editing between teams in different locations.
VIRTUAL PRODUCTION SUPPORT
The EOS C50 is capable of sending the CV Protocol to multiple devices for virtual productions. Lens metadata can be utilized by running our CV Metadata Extraction plugin on compatible computers, significantly improving usability in virtual set environments.
PL-RF MOUNTING ADAPTER WITH COOKE/I® TECHNOLOGY COMPATIBILITY
The PL-RF Mount Adapter unlocks a wide range of PL-mount lenses for the EOS C50 camera. The adapter is compatible with Cooke/i® Technology's metadata protocol, which enables real-time output of lens metadata (focus/zoom/iris position and other data, as well as lens model information). In addition, the robust adapter has locking plates that attach to the camera with four screws for a secure and stable lens mount.
FULL MIRRORLESS PHOTO MODE WITH DEDICATED MENU AND USER INTERFACE
With a simple flick of the switch, the EOS C50 transforms from a powerful cinema camera into a professional still camera, using the well-known menu system of the EOS R series. helping to optimize your workflow.
The full-frame sensor offers a shallow depth of field that allows for stunning shots that fully utilize bokeh, and photos can be taken at standard ISO up to 64,000, enabling high-quality images for a wide range of shooting situations and subjects.
