Combining the Z5 II's pro-grade hardware into a compact, affordable body — without an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and with a single SD card slot — the Z5 IIC lets you keep your eye focused on the scene while you create, rather than experiencing travel, family events and other moments through a tiny viewfinder.
High-Quality Images in a Compact Body
Although more compact due to the removal of the EVF, the Z5 IIC doesn't compromise on power. A 24.5MP full-frame BSI (FX-format) CMOS sensor, combined with the EXPEED 7 image processor, offers a versatile combination of high-resolution images, responsive AI-driven autofocus, and continuous shooting at a maximum resolution of up to 30fps.
At native values, the sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 64,000 allows it to work in a variety of lighting conditions, and can be expanded to ISO 50 to 204,800 for extreme light situations. The full-frame sensor provides a greater depth of field, better low-light performance, and superior image quality compared to similarly sized travel cameras equipped with smaller sensors.
Reliable autofocus
Whatever the subject, it's easy to keep it in focus thanks to the Z5 IIC's powerful autofocus system. Intelligent subject detection can be configured to recognise ten different types, including people, animals, birds and vehicles, as well as a new mode for aquatic life. When using Auto-Area AF mode, these subjects are automatically detected, focused on and tracked, ensuring clarity even when the subject moves through the frame.
Pre-Shot Capture
The EXPEED 7 processor also activates the Pre-Shot Capture function, ensuring you never miss the decisive moment: the camera records frames in a burst of up to 30fps up to one second before the shutter is fully engaged. With this feature enabled, burst shooting begins when the shutter button is pressed halfway, and the buffer holds the frames captured before the full shot.
Reduced Vibration by Sensor Displacement
Work in low-light situations with complete confidence, thanks to the Z5 IIC's 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) engine. Whether it's handheld long exposures, concert photography, slow-shutter speed action shots, or other situations, the VR engine compensates for up to five stabilisation stops to help produce sharp images. With compatible lenses, up to 7.5 stabilisation points can be achieved. For fluid handheld video recording, Electronic VR is available to help stabilise images without the need for additional stabilisation tools.
High-Quality Video Output
A powerful tool for hybrid content creators, the Z5 IIC supports UHD 4K video recording at up to 60fps and Full HD at up to 120fps, as well as offering recording time limits of up to two hours, video timer functionality, built-in Electronic Shake Reduction, and the ability to save video files to internal memory cards or an optional external recorder via HDMI output. Time-lapse captures can also be taken directly in the camera, generating a finished 4K UHD video file.
For more demanding creative workflows, the Z5 IIC can record 12-bit N-RAW video at resolutions up to 4032 × 2268, as well as 10-bit H. 265 video in N-Log, with access to several free RED LUTs for impactful visuals. The camera also features a "Product Review" mode and is compatible with UAC/UAV standards for live web streaming without the need for additional software.
Creative Color Control
A "Picture Control" button on the top of the Z5 IIC provides easy access to its 31 built-in presets, even in Auto mode. Color presets can now be overlaid on the rear LCD screen, allowing you to preview the effects of color changes. You can also download your favorite "Creator Recipes" created by other Nikon photographers via the Nikon Imaging Cloud and integrate them into your existing presets.
Body Design and Connectivity
Thanks to the elimination of the electronic viewfinder (EVF), the Z5 IIC features a flat-top design that reduces the overall profile, making it practical for everyday transport. This makes the Z5 IIC an ideal choice for creators looking for a more compact full-frame system and who primarily use the LCD screen to compose their images.
Touchscreen and Composition Flexibility
A bright 3.2-inch, 2.1-million-dot LCD screen provides clear, vivid image reproduction and real-time viewing during shooting. The vari-angle touchscreen lets you select the focus point with your fingertips and makes it easy to compose images and adjust camera settings from virtually any angle.
Special Modes for Night Photography and Astrophotography
The "Warm Display Colors" mode favors night photography by changing the color of the information on the screen from white to red to reduce glare and preserve night vision. In addition, the "Starlight View" mode provides a clear view even in conditions of near-total darkness, which is advantageous for astrophotography.
Recording Indicator Light
A built-in recording indicator light, positioned on the front of the camera (facing the subject), makes it easy to identify when recording is in progress.
Physical Connectivity and Expansion Ports
The headphone jack also acts as a terminal for Nikon's optional MC-DC3 remote release cable, and the USB-C port allows for both battery charging and camera power via USB. A micro-HDMI port enables external recording and live video output for higher-budget video productions.
Wireless Connectivity and SnapBridge Remote Control
Built-in SnapBridge connectivity enables smooth transfer of low-resolution images, as well as remote control of capture. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and Wi-Fi technologies enable communication between the camera and a smart device. In addition, the mobile device can release the shutter remotely and display the real-time image captured by the camera, allowing remote work.
