Polaroid's first analog instant camera with built-in manual controls, the I-2, is designed for the creative experimentation and freedom of photographers of all experience levels. With a 98mm f/8 lens to produce beautiful bokeh effects, six shooting modes including full manual and multiple exposure, a viewfinder with integrated display of camera settings, a flash sync port to sync external flashes, and compatibility with Polaroid i-Type, 600 and SX-70 films, the I-2 is a powerful tool for creating unique images.
Finally, the built-in manual controls
Long restricted to artists, independent enthusiasts and retailers, integrated manual controls have finally made their way into an official Polaroid camera. The ability to control light is the cornerstone of the photographer's art, and the I-2 camera is designed to offer this control with shutter speeds selectable between 1/250 and 30 seconds and apertures between f/8 and f/64. A bulb mode is also available for exposures longer than 30 seconds. This precision paves the way for bokeh effects, selective lighting techniques, motion blur and more.
In addition to the fully manual mode, the camera also features a full auto mode, aperture and shutter priority modes, a self-timer and a multiple exposure mode, which allows you to stack two to four shots on a single Polaroid film. The six modes put the full range of creative possibilities of analog photography at the photographer's fingertips.
Camera settings and photometer readings are displayed on both the external AMOLED display and the display integrated into the viewfinder. To set the exposure, the camera uses a center-weighted single-zone metering system that covers 60% of the optical viewfinder's field of view. It can be adjusted up to two stops in either direction in 1/3 increments using the EV switch on the base of the lens. More light can be added with the camera's built-in flash, and the 2.5mm external flash sync port unleashes the unlimited creative potential of lighting with external flashes.
Polaroid's sharpest lens to date
The I-2 features Polaroid's most advanced lens system to date, a 3-lens continuous autofocus system that uses a LiDAR range sensor to lock onto the subject and deliver the sharpest results ever seen. Powered by a stepping motor, the autofocus frame in the centre of the viewfinder determines and displays the distance from the focal plane to the subject, which can be locked along with the exposure by pressing the shutter button halfway. The 98mm, f/8 lens features an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare and ghosting, while the focal length and maximum aperture combine to generate more depth of field, producing high-quality bokeh effects and emphasizing the camera's portrait capabilities. The lens also features a built-in 49mm filter thread for the application of threadable lens filters, another first for Polaroid cameras.

The I-2's sleek, black design balances the design history of Polaroid cameras with the advanced functionality of the new camera, specifically reducing the size to accommodate the improved lens. The new optical viewfinder is bigger and brighter than ever, as well as providing all the relevant exposure information. At just under 567 grams, the stainless steel and aluminum alloy construction offers sturdiness without being heavy, and the optional vegan leather shoulder holster, shoulder strap, and carrying case are viable brand accessories for travel or everyday use. Expanded Features in the Polaroid App
Using the I-2 with the Polaroid app allows you to exploit the camera's capabilities to the fullest. All manual camera controls are visible and manageable by the app, which can also function as a remote shutter release. The app also provides the self-timer for all modes and allows complete manual control of the multiple exposure mode. The app, which connects to the camera via Bluetooth, also allows firmware updates.
