A variety of lenses
The ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* 24-200mm1 F2.8-4.5 zoom lens covers a wide range of zoom ranges, equivalent to two standard zoom lenses (24-70mm and 70-200mm), all in a very compact configuration.
High-resolution optics
Lens elements, including four AA (Advanced Aspherical) lenses and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, work together to deliver outstanding resolution at the periphery of the image across the telephoto range.
A new image sensor for speed
The newly developed 1.0-type stacked CMOS image sensor and the latest BIONZ X™ image processing engine open up new dimensions in terms of speed and image quality.
Fast 20fps continuous shooting, precise AF/AE tracking
The new fast image sensor delivers continuous shooting at up to 20fps3, and the camera tracks subjects with AF/AE calculations of up to 60 times per second3, even in erratic motion or at high speed.
Shooting without blocks to be on track
Non-Blocking Shooting allows you to follow subject movement without interruption in the camera's LCD viewfinder or viewfinder with viewfinder updates performed at 60fps to minimise lag.

New Single Burst Shooting function
The newly developed Single Burst Capture5 function captures the action of very fast movements, such as the moment a tennis racket touches the ball, when taking 7 shots in quick succession with selectable speeds of 90, 60 or 30fps. It captures decisive moments that are difficult to capture and can be used with the self-timer. Supports JPEG and RAW image formats.

Wide AF coverage and fast AF speed
The RX100 VII is the leader6 in 357 focal-plane phase-detection AF points, with 68% of the frame. They are complemented by 425 contrast-detection AF points, and AF acquisition is achieved in 0.02 seconds,2 the fastest speed in the world.6

Real-time tracking for moving objects
Real-time Tracking uses object recognition (AI)7 algorithms that rely on color, pattern (brightness), object distance (depth), and face/eye information to follow your subjects wherever they go. Keeping a steady, steady focus on a moving subject helps you capture all the important moments of action as they happen, whether you're taking stills or movies.
Real-time Eye AF for stills/movies
Sony's advanced eye detection and tracking performance are essential for beautiful portraits. Real-time Eye AF detects human eyes and maintains focus as the subject moves, allowing you to compose the shot. It is even possible to focus on the left or right eye of the subject.
Superior image quality
High resolution and exceptional low-light shooting
The large 1.0-type image sensor has a resolution of 20.1 MP,9 with back-illuminated technology and improved standard ISO range of 100-12800. Noticeable high image resolution and low noise contribute to superb image quality and realistic textures.
Andexcellent color and texture reproduction
The camera's image sensor and image processing algorithms deliver more realistic textures and colors. In particular, human skin tones look natural, while the vivid colors of flowers are reproduced more accurately.
Optical image stabilization – more stable photos
Capture images with camera shake compensation, even in low light and telephoto distances. The image stabilisation algorithm delivers faster 4.0-stop shutter speed stabilisation10 to 200mm.1

Anti-distortion shutter with silent shooting
The RX100 VII achieves shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 sec, and the sensor's fast readout helps to suppress the rolling shutter effect that can occur when shooting fast-moving subjects. Silent shooting11 is also possible.
Smooth skin effect and other effects
The Smooth Skin Effect reduces facial wrinkles and signs of skin fatigue for better portraits. Creative Style and Picture Effect allow you to make small adjustments to capture images full of impact.
High-resolution 4K HDR (HLG) recording and stable AF
The camera supports 4K (QFHD: 3840 × 2160) movie recording12 13 with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. Smooth, stable AF is the result of optimised AF algorithms, and Real-time Tracking and Real-time (Human) Eye AF are also now available for movies. With HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) capability, you can enjoy HDR images simply by connecting the camera to an HDR (HLG) compatible Sony TV via a USB cable.
Advanced features for creators and vloggers
Boost the quality of your vlogs with the RX100 VII that goes anywhere. New Touch Tracking for Movies technology delivers quick and easy autofocus you can rely on, while Real-time (human) Eye AF ensures accurate focusing. Even when you're walking, Image Stabilization's "Active" mode produces smooth 4K video, and with a tilting selfie screen and an external microphone jack, you don't have to worry about framing or audio.
External microphone input for better sound
Despite its compact size, the RX100 VII includes a microphone input14. Highly appreciated by vloggers and professionals, the standard 3.5mm input allows for professional audio capture for movies and vlogs.
Enhanced image stabilization for 4K movies
Capture smooth 4K video with the new supported "Active" mode image stabilization. For even smoother stabilization, like gimbal support,15 video editing is available in the Movie Edit add-on app on Imaging Edge™16.
Vertical movie recording with metadata – watch on smartphone
Movies recorded with the camera vertically can now be viewed in the same orientation on PCs and smartphones thanks to metadata added by the camera.17
S-Log support for better creative expression
The RX100 VII supports S-Log3 and S-Log2 Image Profiles. Whether you need high dynamic range and wide colour space images for post-production, or a unique look straight from the camera, the RX100 VII has you covered.
Interval shooting for time-lapse movies
Interval Shooting18 performs continuous shooting with a set interval of 1 to 60 seconds with AE tracking. The resulting time-lapse images can be previewed in-camera or grouped into a movie on your PC.
Single-touch access electronic viewfinder
The XGA TruFinder™ OLED has a resolution of 2.35 million dots for bright, detailed, high-contrast viewing. It can be quickly accessed from the pop-up switch and retracted just as quickly when not in use.
Tilting screen monitor for good framing
The high-resolution 921K-dot 3.0-type LCD monitor tilts up 180° and down about 90°, making it easy to frame selfies or shoot from high and low angles.
Touch operation for smooth shooting
Just tap the screen to start Real-time Tracking for photos or movies. Touch Focus, Touch Pad, and Touch Shutter are also available.
Easy data management
You can classify or protect photos from deletion on playback, with optional custom key assignment. Continuous shooting images can be displayed in the groups in which they were captured, and you can delete or protect the groups with one operation.
Customization functions
Camera functions activated on the Fn buttons can have separate assignments for movie and still shooting. You can access frequently used functions and menu items easily and conveniently when assigned via the My Menu and My Dial features.
