It has an omnidirectional pickup capsule, which allows it some freedom of use, making it ideal for less experienced reporters who don't usually get along as well with directional microphones.
The frequency response has been specifically tailored for vocal reproduction to maximize intelligibility and provide consistent results regardless of pickup conditions.
It's built from a lightweight aluminum alloy, and painted in an anti-glare matte black, ideal for those working in front of cameras, projectors and reflectors.
An internal multi-layer filter, installed inside the metal mesh of the microphone head, minimizes wind noise, so this microphone does not need fur windscreens.
It also comes with a flag included, where you can print and stick the stickers with your station's logo. This flag also has the advantage of physically separating the speaker/interviewee's mouth from the microphone, which means that you will probably never hear a recording with poppings made with a Reporter.
Being a dynamic microphone, it naturally has a weaker output level than a condenser microphone, like almost all dynamic microphones.
Therefore, it is advisable to use a preamplifier with good amplification gain (50 dB dynamic range will be sufficient for most uses).
