Stand-alone Broadcast Quality Switcher
The compact multifunctional design includes a control panel, as well as the connections. The front panel includes easy-to-use buttons that allow you to select sources, video effects, and transitions. Easy to Use and Quick to Learn!
There's never been a switcher that's easier to use, as you just need to press one of the input buttons numbered 1 to 4 on the front panel to cut between video sources. You can choose between dry cuts or transition effects by selecting the "Cut" or "Auto" buttons. Unlike dry cut, the "Auto" button instructs ATEM Mini to use a video effect when switching inputs. You can choose between exciting transitions, such as a dissolve, or more dramatic effects, such as color immersions, DVE effects to shrink, and DVE to push. DVE is perfect for picture-in-picture effects, and you can set up different picture positions instantly. There is also a frame memory for titling and graphics accessible via external software control.

Connect up to Four Independent Cameras
With four independent HDMI inputs, you can connect up to four high-quality video cameras. Video cameras with HDMI outputs are dramatically higher quality than conventional webcams, as they use higher quality lenses and have much better low light sensitivity. All sources will be resynchronized to the switcher if they are operating on different video standards, so you don't have to worry about connecting video equipment. They just work! Because HDMI-compatible cameras often support interchangeable lenses, you can use wide-angle lenses for wide shots and zoom lenses for close-ups. HDMI Video and USB Webcam Outputs
For maximum compatibility, ATEM Mini has a USB connection that works just like a conventional webcam input. That is, you can connect and start working with any video software instantly. The software is tricked into thinking that ATEM Mini is a regular webcam, but it's actually a live production switcher. This ensures full compatibility with all video programs in full resolution 1080HD quality. Choose any software you like, such as Open Broadcaster for live streaming, or Skype for peer-to-peer presentations. Live streaming over Ethernet on ATEM Mini Pro
The ATEM Mini Pro model has a built-in hardware streaming engine for live streaming over its built-in Ethernet connection. This means you can live stream to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch in higher quality, with no dropped frames and much simpler settings. Simply select the streaming service and enter the streaming key. There are palettes in ATEM Software Control for configuration and streaming status. The streaming status is also displayed in multiview. It's easy to understand the streaming status, as the data rate indicator displays the internet speed required for the video format being used. If you're technically savvy, you can even hack the streaming profiles detailed in the XML preferences file and load new services.
Record Directly to USB Flash Drives with ATEM Mini Pro
The ATEM Mini Pro model also supports direct recording of your streaming data to USB flash drives. This means that you can make very long recordings of the same H.264 files with AAC audio as you stream them so that you can upload them directly to any site on the internet, such as YouTube and Vimeo. ATEM Mini Pro supports multiple drives when used with a USB hub or Blackmagic MultiDock, so when a first drive fills up, recording can continue on a second drive uninterrupted. Recording settings and drive selection are done in ATEM Software Control. And you can also track the recording status in the built-in multiview. You can even shoot footage on Blackmagic Pocket Cinema External Cameras.
Add Stunning Video Effects
The biggest advantages of ATEM Mini are the professional production values, which are made possible by a number of built-in video effects. The "Cut" button ensures a dry cut when switching between sources. The "Auto" button, found on large broadcast switchers, provides video transitions with effects. There are video effect duration buttons, offering 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 second settings. You can also select the type of effect you want, including blend, which smoothly transitions between fonts, and immersion, which fades via a color during the transition. Or use fun DVE effects that move the image off-screen while transitioning between sources.
Work with Professional Microphones
With two independent 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, you can connect desktop and lavalier microphones. You can even connect a music player to play intro songs before your show starts after streaming starts. With two additional stereo audio inputs, you can ensure that both the presenter and the guest can use lavalier microphones in interviews. All ATEM Mini audio inputs include buttons on the panel to adjust the audio level and activate inputs on the audio mixer. ATEM Mini has a full Fairlight audio mixer. In addition, all HDMI audio inputs and both microphone inputs are connected to the audio mixer separately, so you can live mix from all audio sources.
Converts Any HDMI Input Format Automatically
Each of the four HDMI inputs has its own dedicated standards converter. This means that ATEM Mini will convert 1080p, 1080i and 720p sources to the switcher video standard automatically. By default, the switcher will set your video format automatically. However, it is also possible to configure the switcher to the video format you need. The HDMI output is a true auxiliary output, to which you can transmit the HDMI inputs or the program feed. You can even switch input 1 directly to HDMI output and get low latency for eSports productions. If you are using the switcher in program/preview mode, the HDMI output can be selected for preview. On the ATEM Mini Pro model, it can be used to display a full multiview.

The ATEM Software Control app unlocks the full potential of ATEM Mini, giving you control over all the features of the switcher. The ATEM Software Control Panel has a visual switcher interface with parameter palettes to make quick adjustments. While it is usually possible to connect via USB, connecting via Ethernet nevertheless allows multiple users to connect to ATEM Mini using separate copies of ATEM Software Control on different computers. Through the software, it is possible to access all the features of the audio mixer, including effects, loading still frames and even advanced macro programming. DVE for Picture-in-Picture, Transitions and Effects
One of the coolest features of ATEM Mini is the digital video effects processor, often known as "DVE", which lets you perform picture-in-picture effects and DVE transitions. With DVE, you can create professional PiP effects with custom 3D borders, shadows, and lighting. Image quality is the same as the high-end ATEM switcher models, and the DVE lets you position, resize, rotate and scale live video in real time. The DVE can also be used to create amazing transitions with 16 different effects to shrink and push the image, making your programming more interesting. The DVE includes a "flying key" that can be used with custom graphics to create transitions with graphic wipes.
Professional Broadcast Transitions!
ATEM Mini includes a wide range of native HD broadcast quality transitions like blend, dip, wipe and more. All transitions can be customized by adjusting parameters such as duration, border color, border width, position, and direction. You can also use DVE in transitions, allowing a graphic to move over the edge of the wipe, which is called a graphic wipe, which is often used in sports programming. To avoid mistakes, ATEM Mini has a transition preview feature so you can check transitions before you take them on air.
Photoshop Plug-in \ Integrated Graphics via Photoshop Plug-in
The built-in "media pool" allows you to upload up to 20 RGBA-quality graphics files for titling, opening backgrounds, and logos. The media player is used to output the selected image so that it is displayed as an additional internal video source for use in titling and graphics. You can even use still frames for complex effects such as graphic wipes. ATEM Mini is able to capture still frames from the video output and add them to the internal media pool. Graphics can be loaded via ATEM Software Control or downloaded directly from Photoshop using the ATEM Photoshop plug-in. The Photoshop plugin is perfect for frequently changing graphics, such as scoreboards, as you download them directly to the media player.
Includes new ATEM Advanced Chroma Key
ATEM Mini is perfect for newscasts and virtual sets because it includes an advanced ATEM upstream chroma key plus an additional linear downstream keyer. The chroma keyer is incredibly powerful and includes a color picker, with which users can get color samples from the background for automatic generation of key parameters. In addition to precise controls for edges and reflections, you get a foreground color corrector to match the foreground layers with the background layers for perfect compositions. The keyer can also be used for DVE and standards keying. You can even use it for title overlays when creating graphics with a green or blue background and the keyer will eliminate the green and make the background transparent.
Truly professional M/E style transmissions
Although it comes standard set to "cut-bus" mode, ATEM Mini can also be switched to the "program/preview" style of operation, which is the mode of operation of live production switchers used by large broadcasters. In cut-off bus mode, when selecting an input, the switcher instantly switches to that source. However, if you prefer to run ATEM Mini like a real pro, you can set the switcher to operate in program/preview mode using ATEM Software Control. In the "M/E" style, the selected source will not be transmitted until you press the "Cut" or "Auto" button. This two-step program/preview process means fewer errors. The program/preview operation is ideal for preparing students for a career in the broadcast industry.
Monitor Sources and Status with ATEM Mini Pro Multiviewer
When performing larger live productions with multiple cameras, it's very helpful to view all of your video sources at the same time on a single monitor. The ATEM Mini Pro model features a professional multiview that lets you keep track of all four video inputs, plus preview and program, on a single TV or HDMI monitor. Simply select M/V from the front panel video output control buttons to enable multiview. All camera views include tally indicators so you know when each source is on air. Each display also features custom labels and audio meters. You can also preview the media player so you know which chart has been selected. Plus, the multi-view even includes statuses for recording, streaming, and the Fairlight audio mixer!
Integrated Audio Mixer with 6-Band EQ, Compressor and Limiter
With the built-in Fairlight audio mixer, ATEM Mini makes complex live sound mixes possible. The internal mixer has a total of 12 channels so you can mix audio from all sources! That is, audio from all HDMI sources and the two stereo microphone inputs. Each input channel features the highest quality six-band parametric compressor and equalizer, limiter, expander and noise reducer, as well as full panning. You can even set the software to mix inputs automatically when you turn on "AFV" or mix multiple live sources at the same time. All of this audio capability can be controlled by ATEM Software Control. It is also possible to add a compatible Mackie panel or even a huge Fairlight Audio console.
Use Ethernet Control for Wireless Internet Streaming
ATEM Software Control connects to ATEM Mini via USB or Ethernet, however the advantage of Ethernet is that you can use it to share your computers' internet connection to stream on the ATEM Mini Pro model! Simply connect ATEM Mini Pro via Ethernet and set up your computer to share your internet connection. Using Ethernet is easy, when you run the software, you just need to select the ATEM Mini model. If you're streaming on ATEM Mini Pro, you'll also need to set up your computer to share the internet. Now, you get control and streaming through a single Ethernet cable. This offers incredible mobility as you can connect your computer to the internet using wireless connections like Wi-Fi or even sharing the 4G and 5G connection of mobile phones.
Control Cameras and Set Color Balance!
For a broadcast style workflow, you can control your cameras remotely from ATEM Mini. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K models can be operated as studio cameras with control sent to ATEM Mini via the HDMI connection. That means you can control the camera settings as well as the camera's color corrector through ATEM Software Control. Imagine changing ISO, tint, as well as iris, focus, and lens zoom, so camera operators can focus on the image plane. There are two types of control interfaces, one with a camera control unit (CCU)-style layout for traditional tint control and the other with a DaVinci Resolve color corrector interface, so you can use the camera's built-in DaVinci color corrector to add digital film "looks" to your live production.
Develop Custom Remote Control Solutions
The Ethernet connection also allows for custom control solutions! Although ATEM Mini includes ATEM Software Control, you can use Ethernet to control ATEM remotely from anywhere in the world. A very common workflow is to use Ethernet to allow ATEM Mini to be positioned close to the HDMI cameras, but the control is positioned remotely in a quieter space such as a control room. Imagine operating the switcher in a control room and setting up a professional studio where the control room is set back from the performance and interview space! Ethernet allows you to add as many panels as you want, all at the same time, or you can create custom solutions using the Developer SDK.
Record to an External HyperDeck Recorder!
The HDMI program output is perfect for connecting ATEM Mini to an external recorder or monitor. ATEM Mini is compatible with recorders like Blackmagic Video Assist. You get a high-quality output that contains the program video from the switcher and the live audio from the internal mixer. The HDMI output can even be connected to video projectors in larger spaces. If you connect ATEM Software Control, you can even write ISO from one of the inputs. Plus, on the more advanced ATEM Mini Pro model, you can generate multiple formats by recording from the HDMI program output in ProRes while simultaneously recording the H.264 video stream from the stream to a USB flash drive.
Work Faster with an ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel
With built-in ethernet, ATEM Mini can use physical control panels for high level workflows that take advantage of the broadcast capabilities included in the switcher. The ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel is operated in program/preview style, with separate buttons for the program and preview rows. You get direct access to all transitions automatically or manually using the fader lever. For precise control of the DVE, the joystick includes X, Y positions, as well as rotation to adjust the size of the DVE. You also have LCD menus to control features that don't have dedicated rotary controls and buttons. You can even program and trigger macros! Also, you can use the ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel in the future when you upgrade to a larger ATEM switcher.
