Four XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors and the latest algorithm keep the wide f/2 focus group under precise control. Reliable focus tracking and instant response are essential in professional situations, such as weddings or sporting events, where the loss of a single frame can prove disastrous. This lens is fully compatible with the α9 III's 120fps sequential capability, and tracking remains flawless, even while zooming.
Designed for refined, expressive filmmaking
Focus breathing is effectively reduced to achieve perfect cinematic images with minimal viewing angle jitter. Rack focus and zoom effects can be used with f/2 depth of field to create natural transitions that guide the viewer's eye. Critical focusing for 4K high frame rate recording at 120p/FHD at 240p5 is easy. XD linear motors and a new opening unit feature quiet operation, supporting the breathing compensation of the α structure.
