The tripod socket has been newly designed, as hyper-telephoto zoom lenses like this one, which have a 600mm tele end, often need a monopod or tripod for shooting. While ensuring that the tripod mount is large and stable, it is possible to click the position every 90º to make changing the shooting position from and to vertical and horizontal much easier.
By attaching the provided strap, the lens can be safely transported without putting unnecessary pressure on the camera mount.

Its versatility offers better flexibility for wider shooting scenes, although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof.

LOW DISPERSION GLASS EXCLUSIVE

The degree to which light is refracted by glass depends on the wavelength of the light. This fact causes different colors of light to focus on slightly different points.
The result is chromatic aberration, the margin of colors that is particularly noticeable in telephoto lenses. Most chromatic aberrations can be removed by combining a high-refractive convex lens element with a low-refractive concave element.
However, the residual chromatic aberration known as the secondary spectrum may still remain. To minimize this secondary spectrum, which can be a serious problem with conventional lenses, SIGMA lenses feature up to three unique low-dispersion glass types that offer superior performance:
ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD (Low Dispersion "F"). In particular, FLD glass offers ultra-low dispersion in combination with high transmittance and the anomalous dispersion characteristics of fluorite.
The meticulous deployment of these unique low-dispersion glass types and the optimization of energy distribution give SIGMA lenses a superlative image rendering not diminished by residual chromatic aberration.

SLD AND FLD GLASS: REDUCED FLARE AND GHOSTING

By incorporating excellent optical glass elements, it minimizes chromatic aberration and achieves class-leading image quality. This lens incorporates 2 FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have fluorite-like performance and 3 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, and compensates for color aberration as much as possible.
Chromatic aberration in particular, which can be visible especially at the telephoto end even when closed, is corrected by the optimized design of the glass elements, including FLD lenses. From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting were measured to establish an optical design that is resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting.
SIGMA's Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp, high-contrast images, even in backlit conditions.

ROUNDED DIAPHRAGM

When shooting with point light sources such as electric lights or reflections on a body of water in the background, the rounded 9-blade diaphragm helps produce an eye-catching bokeh effect – even at large-aperture settings.

BUILT-IN MANUAL OVERRIDE

In addition to AF/MF, MO (Manual Override) is incorporated as one of the focus mode switch options. When you set it to the MO position, it switches to manual focus by rotating the focus ring even during continuous AF. With the AF position, standard full-time manual focus is available. Using the optional SIGMA USB DOCK, you can adjust the sensitivity of the MO position to switch to manual focus.

SIGMA TELE CONVERTER
Newly designed, the SIGMA Tele Converter is compatible with digital cameras and, when mounted between the lens and the camera body, can increase the focal length of the lens.
