Wide-angle, super-telephoto and macro
Offering an incredible 18.8x zoom, this 16-300mm offers a focal length range equivalent to 24-450mm for APS-C cameras, making it the perfect all-in-one zoom for handling virtually any shooting situation. At the wide-angle end, the lens adapts to architecture, interiors and landscapes; at the long end, it is capable of shooting distant action and wildlife; And in between, the lens adapts to everything from portraits to close-up subjects, street scenes, and more.
High-speed autofocus and powerful optical stabilization
Combining fast, accurate focusing performance with robust image stabilisation, this all-in-one zoom is ready to handle almost any subject or situation:
- The HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) moves the focus group quickly and precisely for quick focus switching and agile tracking of fast-moving subjects.
- Combining the versatility of focal length, this lens also offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at the 70mm position for close-up shots. At the wide-angle end of the lens, the magnification is 1:3 and is 1:4 at the telephoto end.
Helping you get sharp and stable images, this zoom features a powerful image stabilization system that compensates for 6 stops of camera shake at the 16mm position and 4.5 stops of shake.
Powered by Sigma's OS2 algorithm — the same algorithm used in Sigma's larger super-telephoto lenses — this stabilization system adapts to the versatility of the lens itself and helps reduce camera shake and shake for portable reliability, even when shooting in low light and at the long end of the zoom range.
Impressive optical quality
Featuring a series of low-dispersion glass elements and four aspherical elements, the lens has impressive aberration correction, high sharpness and clarity, and accurate color rendering throughout the zoom and focus ranges.
The optical design has also been tested and adjusted to resist flare and minimise ghosting in a variety of lighting conditions.
Respiratory focus is also well controlled to benefit filmmaking applications and photographers working with multi-plane processes.
Compact, lightweight and durable
Despite the huge zoom range, the lens is still relatively compact and lightweight to serve as an ideal travel lens: it measures 4.8" in length and weighs 1.4 lb.
Dust and splash resistant seals for reliability in adverse weather conditions. The front element has a water- and oil-repellent coating that is especially easy to clean. The zoom lock switch on the wide-angle end prevents the lens from extending when stored.
