Newly developed high-performancelens series for full-frame mirrorless cameras
With mirrorless cameras emerging at a rapid pace, expectations for lenses suitable for high-performance full-frame mirrorless cameras are growing. Unfortunately, many photographers may feel that they have few options for mirrorless lens systems in terms of performance, size, extensive lineup, and due to the burden of having to use multiple systems. SIGMA has developed and proposes this new series of full-frame mirrorless lenses as the ideal solution to this challenge.
SIGMA will develop interchangeable lenses with unprecedented specifications and performance for projects that benefit from the short flange focal length feature of mirrorless cameras while maintaining the concepts of "Contemporary", "Art" and "Sports". We will announce three models as the first lenses in this series.
High-resolution image quality developed with unique low-distribution glass elements and NPC (Nano Porous Coating)
One FLD glass and five SLD glass elements are suitable for suppressing chromatic aberration at the edge of the bezel. Three aspherical lenses, including a large-diameter aspherical lens on the front surface, are used to minimize coma flare-up, etc., thus achieving mind-blowing resolution.
SIGMA's unique Nano Porous Coating technology
The super multi-layer coating is combined with SIGMA's unique coating technology "NPC (Nano Porous Coating)". The lens is designed to be less susceptible to strong light incidents such as backlighting. "NPC (Nano Porous Coating)" incorporates porous silica as a coating material. The porous silica layer has nano-sized holes with air inside. Having openings of this size allows for a large reduction in refractive index, allowing reflectance to be lower than conventional anti-reflective coatings. As a result, the reflected light that causes flares and ghosting is sharply reduced, achieving sharp image quality.
Substantial functions enable user confidence even in tough environments
The incorporation of a stepper motor enables quiet, high-speed AF operation. Capture is comfortable, even in target AF, such as face/eye detection AF and during video recording. The AFL button, 1which can be assigned to various functions, extends the range of operations available on the lens. In addition, the lens has a dust and splash resistant structure, along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front surface of the lens, which supports shooting in various environments.2
Rear filter holder as A standard accessory
The lens comes with a rear filter mount equipped with a fall prevention lock for attaching leaf-type rear filters for shooting starry skies.
Other characteristics
Designed to minimize flare and ghosting
From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting were measured to establish an optical design that is resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA's Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp, high-contrast images, even in backlit conditions.
Rounded diaphragm
The rounded 11-blade diaphragm creates a blur by attracting the out-of-focus areas of the image.
Compatible with lens aberration correction
Combining the optical characteristics of the lens, this function performs in-camera corrections for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, occasional aberrations, and more, to further improve image quality.
High precision rugged brass bayonet mount
The brass stand combines high precision with robust construction. Its protected surfaces and strength improved for exceptional lens durability.
