The LUMIX S 100-500mm F5-7.1 is the first ultra-telephoto zoom lens in the LUMIX S Series, covering up to 500mm and compatible with teleconverters for a combined focal length of up to 1000mm. It offers high resolution and beautiful bokeh throughout the zoom range, ideal for wildlife, motorsport and landscape photography. Thanks to the optimised lens elements and the Dual Phase Linear Motor, it achieves a compact 196mm design. Fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, combined with Dual IS2 stabilisation up to 7 stops, ensures excellent performance even without a tripod. Designed for intuitive operation, it features a customisable focus ring and focus button, while video features such as focus breath suppression and micro-step aperture control help you record smooth, high-quality video.

*Using the teleconverter reduces the effective aperture by one aperture point (DMW-STC14) or two aperture points (DMW-STC20).

Up to 7-stop image stabilisation with Dual IS 2
Optical image stabilisation (OIS) combined with Dual IS 2 works in conjunction with the camera's BIS to provide up to 7 stops of compensation in the telephoto range, allowing you to shoot confidently at telephoto or slow shutter speeds without the blur caused by camera shake.

With a reach of 500mm in a body that is approximately 196.1mm long and weighs around 1,285g, this ultra-telephoto zoom lens is ready for any situation. It is easy to transport, even in places where heavy equipment is impractical or tripods are not allowed. Its excellent mobility allows you to shoot handheld, so you never miss a decisive moment.
Lens construction
Longer focal lengths tend to introduce chromatic aberration, which can reduce contrast and cause color bleed. That's why the lens has a carefully optimized arrangement of two UED (Ultra Extra-low Dispersion) elements and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements. UED elements offer even lower dispersion than ED elements, providing performance close to that of fluorite. This combination effectively corrects axial chromatic aberration, ensuring sharp, high-contrast results.
Responsive controls for every situation
Assign favorites to the customisable focus ring or focus button (Fn button) for instant access. Switch between optical image stabilisation (OIS) modes or manually adjust the zoom for smooth, stable telephoto shots. The included tripod mount allows the lens to rotate between horizontal and vertical positions without moving the tripod head.
Tight and smooth ring
The new soft adjustment ring allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the zoom ring for optimal control. From delicate framing to fast zooms, you can get the precise handling you need, avoiding unwanted zoom movements.
Focus switch
The focus switch lets you choose between full and limit settings for faster focusing and instant response to fast-moving subjects.
OIS switch
Switch between OIS modes to suit your shooting style. MODE 1 is ideal for general photography, while MODE 2 is optimised for panoramas, automatically detecting and compensating for the direction of movement.
Customizable focus ring
The focus ring can be used as a control ring*, allowing you to assign important functions such as aperture and exposure compensation.

You can change the direction of rotation of the focus ring to suit your preferred operating style. *

Update the DC-S1RM2 firmware to version 1.2.
Focus button (Fn button)
The lens also features a focus button that allows quick access to assigned functions, such as Hybrid Zoom*, which smoothly extends the telephoto range.
*This function combines optical zoom and crop zoom, allowing you to extend the telephoto range using only the zoom ring, without changing the focal length at the wide-angle end.
Manual focus while zooming
You can adjust the focus manually while zooming, allowing for smooth transitions between subjects and expanding your creative possibilities.
Non-linear mode
The focus ring supports both linear and non-linear modes. In non-linear mode, focus changes vary depending on the rotation speed of the ring, allowing for quick adjustments.
Linear Mode
In linear mode, focus travels at a consistent, user-defined rate, providing precise, mechanical-like control that is especially useful for intuitive and precise focusing during video recording.
