The 2 XA elements in a G Master design take advantage of the short distance behind the mirrorless flange for impressive contrast and resolution in a compact lens.
For the lens's superior optical quality, there's an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element that suppresses chromatic aberration, and a Sony Nano AR Coating II that maintains image clarity in any lighting conditions.

REFINED G-MASTER BOKEH AND WIDE VERSATILITY
XA elements suppress "onion ring" bokeh, an 11-blade aperture mechanism produces a near-circular aperture when the lens is open, and meticulous control of spherical aberration in the design and manufacture phases contributes to stunning bokeh at F1.4.
Improvements in design and workmanship make it possible to offer a minimum focusing distance of 27 cm and a maximum magnification of 0.23x.  

XD LINEAR MOTORS FOR FAST, ACCURATE TRACKING AND AF
2 XD Linear Motors enable fast, accurate, and quiet tracking and AF, maximizing the benefits of the E-mount system.
