The SEL300F28GM is the lightest all-rounder large-aperture prime telephoto lens in its class1 at just 1470 grams, offering exceptional optical performance and reproduction, as well as fast, accurate AF. The lens is designed so that your weight is not concentrated on the front, for better balance. This minimizes strain and fatigue during extended handheld shooting sessions.
Magnificent G Master resolution
An innovative optical design that includes three Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one ED glass element effectively reduces axial chromatic aberration as well as lateral chromatic aberration. Exceptional resolution and contrast are maintained right up to the edges of the image, which also allows for more flexible cropping and editing.
Beautiful bokeh that highlights subjects
The stunning, creamy bokeh allows you to use a narrow depth of field to highlight subjects from the background. In addition to Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and ED elements in a new optical design that effectively suppresses colour loss, each lens is calibrated during manufacture to optimise bokeh quality. The 11-blade circular aperture mechanism contributes to smooth circular bokeh.
Fast, accurate AF unlocks the potential of advanced bodies
The lens maximises the speed potential of the cameras, allowing you to capture important moments in dynamic sports or fast-moving wildlife. Two XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors with high thrust efficiency and an advanced control algorithm have been fine-tuned for fast response to control signals. The speed and accuracy of AF tracking is maintained in continuous shooting sequences.

An optical design with Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements offers less subjective weight, thanks to fewer elements at the front of the lens, preventing the lens's weight from being concentrated there. This optimises balance and reduces the moment of inertia, which is felt as a resistance to rotation, for precise and agile horizontal movement and movement of the lens during shooting.
