SIGMA 35mm f/1.2 Art DG DN for Sony E-Mount
First wide-angle AF lens with a maximum aperture of F1.2 for Sony's full-frame E-mount and L-Mount system.
It allows the creation of works of art with impressive resolution and great bokeh effects, such as portraits that make use of a shallow depth of field.
It brings the concept of developing the art line "pursuit of the best image quality" to the next level.
By utilizing the optical correction function inside the camera, aberrations that are difficult to post-process are completely corrected thanks to the optical design and thus improves resolution.
With mirrorless cameras emerging at a rapid pace, expectations regarding lenses suitable for high-performance full-frame cameras are growing.
Unfortunately, many photographers may feel that they have few options for mirrorless lens systems in terms of performance, size, extensive programming, and due to the burden of having to use multiple systems.
SIGMA has therefore developed and proposes this series of full-frame mirrorless lenses as the ideal solution to this challenge.
The "art line in the age of mirrorless cameras" pursues maximum performance as a large-diameter lens with a focal length of 35mm and also achieves a maximum aperture of F1.2.
Three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lenses, including a double-sided aspherical lens, are optimally arranged in a lens construction of 17 elements in 12 groups.
In addition to the optical design that makes use of the feature of short flange focal length, it effectively takes advantage of the correction function inside the camera to correct distortion and peripheral illumination.
Several aberrations that are difficult to correct by post-processing, such as sagittal flare, are completely corrected by compiling the optical design technologies that SIGMA has cultivated,
In autofocus photography, comfortable shooting for an F1.2 large-diameter lens is achieved by the large Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) that obtains the desired torque required to drive the focus lens group.
In manual focus photography, the focus ring driven by the focus-by-wire system with the optimised torque setting responds to the photographer's refined operations.
The aperture ring is also mounted with a click function to remove clicks, allowing for seamless operations that are especially useful during video recording.
The AFL button, which can be assigned with various functions, extends the range of operations available on the lens.
In addition, the lens features a splash- and dust-proof structure, along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front surface of the lens, which further supports shooting in various environments.
