HOYA FOG Filter No.0.5 55mm
OVERVIEW
HOYA FOG No0.5 has a matte surface that lightly covers the entire image in a pleasing dreamlike haze effect. However, compared to HOYA's other soft filters, the objects in the photo remain sharp and in contrast. The effect can be varied by changing the aperture of the lens, but decreasing it too much will reduce the effect.
There are two HOYA FOG filters, FOG No0.5 and the strongest FOG No1. Both can be used together to produce an effect similar to dense fog.
TECHNOLOGY
HOYA FOG No0.5 filter uses a special glass to achieve the effect. A piece of this glass is laminated together with transparent optical element, giving it a special structure that creates the fog effect.
NIGHTSCAPES
What makes the smooth effect of the FOG No0.5 really unique is that it brings out the bright areas in the image in a way that lets them appear as shiny objects. Very suggested for night photography.
LANDSCAPES
Using this effect in landscape scenarios, it can allow the photographer to create a mythical atmosphere like in a fantasy story.
