HOYA Filter HMC ND4 72mm
In extreme light intensity conditions, such as sunlight in snowy mountains or on the beach, or when using a video camera, ND (Neutral Density) filters are recommended and essential.
Neutral density filters are often overlooked by photographers, but they have multiple uses and offer the possibility of achieving irrevocable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light it reaches, but they don't affect the color balance.

They have four main functions:
1) To allow slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with fast movies, to record movements in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, cars, seas, etc.
2) To decrease the depth of field by allowing wider apertures, which helps to separate subjects from their background.
3) To decrease the effective ISO of high-speed film (i.e.: above ISO400)
4) To allow film and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to shoot subjects such as snow, sand, or other bright scenes that would normally cause overexposure.
