SONY FX2 - Body
The FX2 is a full-frame camera in the Cinema Line range, based on the visual philosophy of Sony's top-of-the-line VENICE series, ideal for those taking their first steps in a professional cinematography career. With high mobility, operability, expandability and reliability, it is ideal for solo shooting and offers advanced functions for photography, designed to complement film production.

That professional cinematic look
The FX2 is a Cinema Line camera for those who are taking their first steps in professional cinematography. It combines the high image quality of a full-frame sensor with expressive cinematic capabilities, inspired by Sony's high-end VENICE cinema cameras, to bring your creative visions to life.

Cinematic expression with a full-frame sensor
The full-frame FX2 delivers stunning cinematic images, combining high resolution with stunning bokeh. Equipped with a back-illuminated Exmor R™ CMOS sensor, supported by our BIONZ XR™ image processing engine and advanced AI processing unit, the camera offers high sensitivity, wide latitude and a resolution of 33MP, giving ambitious cinematic visionaries everything they need.

Exceptional image quality for maximum editing flexibility
The FX2's full-frame sensor produces smooth, natural gradation footage thanks to more than 15 points of latitude when recording with S-Log3, ensuring even high-contrast scenes captured in full detail. The base ISO for S-Log3 shooting can be set to 800 or 4000, and the camera supports S-Gamut3/S-Gamut3.Cine color gamuts for wide compatibility. All of this contributes to maximum editing efficiency in multi-camera shoots.

Logging recording modes for production flexibility
For added creative flexibility, there are three modes available for log recording — Flexible ISO, Cine EI and Cine EI Quick — with Cine EI widely used in professional cinematography for footage shot for post-production. Based on the shooting environment, choose a base ISO of 800 or 4000 to maintain maximum latitude during shooting, allowing you to enhance specific tonal ranges in post-production to achieve the cinematic look you want.

Multiple recording formats for versatile shooting and editing
7K oversampling is used with full pixel readout and no pixel binning when shooting in full-frame 4K (QFHD 3840 x 2160), and 4K recording at 60p (59.94p) is available in Super 35mm mode. With 10-bit depth, 4:2:2 color sampling, an efficient MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 codec, and Intra recording, including DCI-4K (4096 x 2160), exceptional quality is guaranteed.

Import up to 16 user LUTs
With the FX2, LUTs can be imported and applied to the LCD monitor and viewfinder during movie shooting or playback. You can import and select 16-user LUTs from memory cards or Sony's Creators' Cloud as needed. The LUT used for recording can then be integrated into the video metadata for post-production.

Create Ambience Directly in the Camera
Picture Profile presets make it simple to adjust colors and gradation to create a variety of in-camera moods. These include the invaluable S-Cinetone ™, which produces beautiful skin tones. Imported user LUTs can be registered as PPLUT 1 to 4 and applied during recording, and a wide range of 12 Creative Aspects profiles, including FL2 and FL3, offers a comprehensive selection of visual environments for numerous recording needs.

In-monitor image decompression for anamorphic lenses
Anamorphic lenses are a popular choice for creating a distinctive cinematic look. The FX2 is equipped with a decompression view mode that allows monitoring in the standard 2.93:1 CinemaScope aspect ratio when shooting with anamorphic lenses. It offers 1.3x and 2.0x decompression settings, and Sony's Monitor & Control app includes even more detailed settings for monitoring on a tablet or other external display devices.

Freedom of frame rate
An FPS menu inherits the features of the high-end Cinema Line models, including a [Variable] setting that allows intuitive frame-rate control: up to 2.5x slow-motion11 at 4K resolution, or up to 5x slow-motion when recording in Full HD at up to 120fps.

Designed for solo shooting
Combining some of the video recording functions of today's Cinema Line cameras with advanced photo functions that complement filmmaking, the FX2 is designed to enable solo shooting in a variety of situations, giving you maximum flexibility.

Compact and lightweight with built-in accessory mounting points
With the same compact flat-top design as the Cinema Line FX3 and FX30, the FX2 is ideal for handheld shooting, as well as gimbal and drone mounting. The magnesium alloy exterior has 1/4-20 (UNC) screw holes in three locations for mounting accessories, and the bottom panel has two additional screw holes for secure tripod mounting.

AI-based, real-time recognition AF
Equipped with a powerful AI processing unit, the FX2 offers autofocus capabilities with real-time recognition of humans, animals, birds, vehicles, and even insects. A detection frame indicates the recognized object and tracking can be initiated by simply touching the object on the monitor screen. Advanced human pose estimation technology accurately recognizes the movement of objects, and human eye recognition has been improved by about 30% compared to the FX3/FX30.

Improved focus control
AF Assist allows you to easily switch to manual focus for smooth focus transitions, while a range of seven autofocus transition speed settings and five sensitivity settings offer detailed control. The Focus Map function makes it easy to see the depth of field by overlaying the focus information on the Live View screen, and the Breath Compensation function can significantly improve image stabilization.

Auto-framing with advanced AI
The FX2's Auto Framing function automatically crops and tracks a subject to keep it in a prominent position when the camera is mounted on a tripod, producing professional-looking footage as if it were captured by an experienced operator. The Frame Stabilizer function automatically keeps the subject in the same position in the frame, which can be useful, for example, when the camera operator moves alongside the subject.

Stabilization for dynamic handheld shooting
Active mode improves stabilization during on-the-go shooting. Or, to shoot at a faster pace, there's Dynamic Active Mode that uses electronic stabilisation for up to 30% greater effect, allowing for stable footage even during fast movements. The corresponding stabilization metadata is embedded in the footage for efficient post-production.

Photos at the touch of a button
A single switch selects MOVIE or PHOTO mode and instantly recalls the corresponding settings. In addition to providing 33MP resolution and continuous bursts up to 10fps, the camera is equipped with a [Create Photos from Shot Marks] function that allows you to take photos while recording or playing back videos that have a previously imported user LUT.

Visual consistency in photos and videos
Log mode is also available for stills, which allows you to capture JPEG and HEIF photos with the S-Log3 gamma curve used when recording a video, so the same workflow can be easily applied during post-production. Turn your photos into editing apps like Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, ready for a variety of uses, while still looking like they.

Operability for professional cinematography
The FX2 offers maximum operability during professional use, contributing to a smooth workflow during production.

High-definition tilting electronic viewfinder
It maintains focus during shooting even in bright or distracting environments, thanks to an OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 3.68 million dots. The magnification is 0.70x (50 mm lens, infinity focus, -1 m-1 diopter), and the angle of view and eye point are optimized for video recording. The viewfinder itself can be rotated from 0° to +90° for easy viewing at almost any angle, and the eyecup can be removed or reversed from left to right as needed.

Frequently used parameters, all in one place
The FX2 inherits the BIG6 (Home) screen from high-end CineAlta cameras such as VENICE, which allows you to easily monitor six essential parameters in MOVIE mode: FPS (frame rate), ISO, Shutter (speed/angle), Aperture or ND Filter, Appearance and White Balance. This proven BIG6 (Home) screen contributes to smooth intuitive operation and allows quick access to variable/fixed parameters.

Effective heat management
Enjoy uninterrupted video recording time for formats up to 4K at 59.94p. Heat build-up is prevented through a combination of an internal cooling fan, a graphite material with high thermal conductivity used in the image stabilization unit, and an innovative design that allows ample air intake even when the LCD monitor is closed. The cooling fan has three modes that can be selected according to shooting conditions: auto, minimum and disabled during recording.

Immense load for long shooting sessions
A high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery and effective power management provide up to 100 minutes of real video time or up to 155 minutes of continuous shooting. For longer shooting periods, continuous power can be supplied from a power adapter or a mobile battery that supports USB Power Delivery (PD). The optional DC-C1 DC coupler can provide stable power without occupying the camera's USB Type-C® terminal.

Degradation-free digital audio
With an XLR-H1 grip unit attached, the FX2 records high-quality audio via two XLR connectors and digital audio interface, without the need for extra batteries or cables. Microphones equipped with XLR connectors are available separately. You can easily apply four-channel audio, 24-bit recording, and other settings.

Easy live streaming
The FX2 is also an excellent choice for live streaming to a computer via USB (UVC/UAC) or a wired or wireless LAN network. You can stream videos up to 4K (3840 x 2160) at 59.94p over a LAN and simultaneously record them to the camera's memory card. Transmission protocols over a LAN network include RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT.

Compatible with CFexpress Type A memory cards
Two card slots compatible with SDXC/SDHC UHS-II/UHS-I memory cards and one also compatible with CFexpress Type A cards give you numerous options for stable and reliable high-bitrate recording. Select the recording mode according to your needs: videos and photos can be recorded to different cards and the recording automatically switches to a second card when the first one is full, and more.

4:2:2 10-bit or 16-bit RAW output via HDMI
An HDMI Type-A terminal enables 4K video output at 60p (59.94p), 10-bit 4:2:2, or 16-bit RAW to an external recorder for flexible post-production. 16-bit RAW video output is at a resolution of 4672 x 2628 (16:9 aspect ratio), which also covers DCI-4K (4096 x 2160), with selectable frame rates [59.94p]/[29.97p]/[23.98p]/[24.00p]. Video output via HDMI can occur simultaneously with proxy recording to an internal memory card.
