The α7 IV's high-precision stabilisation unit and gyro sensors use image stabilisation algorithms for shutter speed compensation of up to 5.5 stops4, maximising the high resolution of the 33.0 MP image sensor2.

EXTERNAL FLASH UNIT CONTROL
For added shooting convenience, the compatible wireless flash and radio command units connected to the α7 IV can now be controlled directly from the camera interface.

HYBRID AND FAST AF EVOLVED 
Fast Hybrid AF, which combines phase-detection AF and contrast-detection AF, has evolved for greater speed, accuracy, and better tracking performance.
With 4D FOCUS, a wide and dense AF area covers approximately 94% of the image area, with 7597 phase-detection AF points.

10FPS CONTINUOUS SHOOTING WITH QUICK BUFFER RELEASE
The electronic and mechanical shutter allow you to capture over 800 frames, 9 at up to 10 fps with AF/AE tracking, thanks to the α7 IV's high-capacity buffer memory, fast BIONZ XR processor, and improved memory card write speed.

SONY'S AI-BASED REAL-TIME TRACKING
The single object detection algorithm uses color, pattern (brightness), and object distance (depth) data to process spatial information in real time.
AI allows you to detect and track the eyes and face of the object (human or animal) with high accuracy. Simply select the object to track and leave the rest to the camera. 

IMPROVED REAL-TIME EYE AF
Keep your intended eye in focus to focus on composition
The high speed of the latest image processing engine improves Eye AF in real time, even when the subject is looking in another direction.
You can also use Touch Tracking to start Real-time Tracking of any subject in the frame, while simultaneously initiating Real-time Eye AF when an eye is detected with a simple tap on the screen. 

PHOTOGRAPH ANIMALS EASILY 
Fast, accurate focusing for difficult animal shooting
Setting object detection to "Animal" allows you to detect and track the eyes of animals, for greater success in wildlife photos and movies with your pets at home.

REAL-TIME EYE AF FOR BIRDS 
Bird's eye detection supported for stills and movies
For the first time in the α series, bird's eye detection is available for movies, as well as stills, just preset the subject to "bird".
The incredible speed and accuracy of this camera allows it to automatically track a specific bird11, whether it is perched on a branch or flying, keeping focus stable even with fast and unpredictable movements.

SMOOTH, natural-looking 4K 60P MOVIES
Movies up to 4K 60p with full pixel readout without pixel binning can now be recorded, taking advantage of the α7 IV's new image sensor and wide dynamic range for smoother images of fast-moving subjects.

7K OVERSAMPLING FOR EXPRESSIVE IMAGES OF RICH DETAIL
When shooting 4K movies up to 30p, full-frame 7K oversampling is possible, for ultra-high-resolution 4K.
Select the mode that best suits your purpose and the camera takes care of the rest.

SUPERIOR QUALITY WITH 4:2 RECORDING:. 10-BIT
Record in-camera with the incredible richness of 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 colour sampling, with Long GOP or All-Intra frame encoding for greater flexibility in image grading, post-processing and compositing.

ALL-INTRA AND LONG GOP CONDIFICATION SUPPORT
All-Intra15 recording encodes each frame independently, at bit rates up to 600 Mbps16, capturing complex movements more accurately and enabling more efficient editing.

The S-Cinetone color matrix, based on technology developed for CineAlta cameras such as VENICE, produces a stunning look with beautiful skin tones without post-editing.
Creative Look presets offer interesting in-camera visuals, while S-Log3 gamma allows access to the camera's full dynamic range (over 15 steps) for easier post-production workflows.

NEW FOCUS BREATHING COMPENSATION SYSTEM
The a7 IV leverages our parallel camera and lens development to offer focus breathing compensation, exclusively for Sony E-mount lenses.
By minimising the potential field of view shift during movie shooting when rack focusing with certain lenses, you can achieve impressive results and new creative possibilities with a wide range of Sony E-mount lenses.

FOCUS MAP TO VISUALIZE DEPTH OF FIELD
To meet the needs of professional creators, the new Focus Map feature allows you to easily visualise the depth of field while shooting.
During use, the focus information (depth map) is overlaid on the live view in real time to see the areas that are in focus or out of focus.

AF ASSIST SUPPORTS FOCUS TRANSITION WITH AF 
Inherited from the Cinema Line FX6, the AF Assist function allows you to easily switch between manual and autofocus.
Rack focusing is possible by rotating the focus ring to MF and changing the focus subject.
AF resumes when the rotation of the ring stops.

4K/FULL HD LIVE
The α7 IV supports the UVC (USB to Video Class)/UAC (USB to Audio Class) standards included in USB cameras, so there's no need to prepare dedicated software.
Connect via USB and start your live stream in up to 4K28 resolution.

EASY SETUP FOR LIVE STREAMING
Easy live streaming with the α7 IV.
When you connect to a computer via USB, the USB function selection menu appears on the camera screen.
Select "Live Streaming (USB Streaming)" to switch to this mode immediately without prior setup.

INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES FOR GREATER EXPRESSION IN LIVE STREAMING

OPTIMIZATION OF THE SELECTION AND EDITING PROCESS
The α7 IV incorporates a number of individual improvements to image selection and editing, contributing to a smoother workflow and enabling efficient management of large amounts of data.

DEDICATED PHOTO/MOVIE/S&Q DIAL
Using the Frame/Movie/S&Q dial, the camera instantly changes menus, button assignments and settings such as aperture and shutter speed according to the selected mode to benefit from the hybrid nature of the camera. 

IMPROVED MENU STRUCTURE
To meet the needs of professional photographers and videographers, we have adopted a menu structure similar to that used on the α7S III and α1, for better visibility even at a glance.

HIGH-RESOLUTION QUAD-VGA OLED
The camera's Quad-VGA OLED viewfinder is approximately 1.6x the resolution of the α7 III's viewfinder, with a 37.3° FOV and 23mm high eyespot. 

REAR MONITOR WITH VARIABLE ANGLE AND SIDE OPENING
Wide positioning and framing freedom for stills and movie shooting via the 1.03-million-dot LCD 3,034-type LCD touch panel monitor with convenient side aperture and 3:2 aspect ratio. 

INTUITIVE TOUCH OPERATIONS
Touch operations are available for AF, such as Touch Tracking During Shooting.
Together with the pinch-to-zoom function in playback, it contributes to more intuitive operation. 

CUSTOMISABLE REAR D DIAL FOR CONVENIENT ACCESS
The α7 IV features a customisable dial in place of the previous exposure compensation dial, for quick access to functions such as ISO control, Creative Look or other settings.

Note:
Battery charging
Connect the camera to the AC Adapter (supplied) with the battery inserted using the micro USB cable (supplied), and plug the AC Adapter into the wall outlet. If the charging light comes on once and then turns off immediately, the battery is fully charged.
