The Z8 packs the Z9's feature set into a body that's 30% smaller and 15% smaller than the D850. 45MP stacked CMOS sensor and impressive dynamic range. Impressive Deep-Learning AF system and hit rate in detecting eyes and subjects you can trust. Blackout-free real-time display and 4-axis tilting monitor. Footage, photographs, or both. You have the freedom to innovate while the Z 8 perfectly captures every frame.

Shoot stunning 8K or 4K footage straight from the camera with a wide range of shooting speeds, including slow motion. Capture exquisite 45.7MP photos, even if you're shooting in starlight. It has different display interfaces for movies and stills, and the menus rotate when shooting vertically.
Breakneck speed of 120fps
Never miss the decisive moment. You can take 11MP photos at an incredible 120fps , or 45.7MP photos at a 60fps or 30fps that freezes the action. All this with full AF and AE performance and no viewfinder blackout.
More control over portraits
Save time in post-editing by making adjustments while shooting. Portrait print balance allows you to fine-tune hue and brightness. Skin Smoothing smooths the look of your skin while keeping your eyes and hair sharp.

Do you work with night scenes and backlit portraits? You can rely on the Z8's Intelligent AF system. Faces stay in focus even if the scene has a strong backlight. Subject detection and AF achieve -9 EV in Star View mode.
High-resolution 2x zoom for 4K footage
Zoom with prime lenses while filming. The Z8 can emulate 2x optical zoom, both in-camera and in real-time. The image does not degrade and it is possible to program three different zoom speeds.
12-bit RAW
Nikon's N-RAW format creates files half the size of a ProRes Raw HQ file. It works for footage up to 8.3K/60p or 4.1K/120p.
Codecs
Work with N-RAW, ProRes Raw HQ, ProRes 422HQ, MOV H.265, or MP4 H.264. Also, it has N-Log and HLG shooting modes.
