The X-M5 has a back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor. The FUJIFILM X-M5 has the same built-in AI-based subject detection autofocus as the FUJIFILM X100VI and X-T50 mirrorless digital cameras. Subject detection autofocus
The X-Processor 5 features a subject detection autofocus powered by deep learning AI. In addition to providing incredible AF tracking and detection for human faces and eyes, the FUJIFILM X-M5 can also automatically detect and track a wide variety of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, planes, trains, insects, and drones. This allows photographers to focus on composition and creativity.
The latest AF technology
The FUJIFILM X-M5 is equipped with Fujifilm's latest predictive algorithm, recording subjects with highly accurate AF, even in scenes that require tracking of moving subjects or low-contrast environments. It tracks a wide variety of subjects, including sports and animals, as well as moving subjects.
Film Simulation
The 20 film simulation modes offered by the FUJIFILM X-M5, including REALA ACE mode, take advantage of Fujifilm's 90 years of color science:
- PROVIA/STANDARD
- Based on FUJICHROME PROVIA, a reverse film designed for professional use, this Film Simulation mode caters to all types of subjects, offering neutral colour reproduction.
- REALA ACE
- Based on REALA ACE, this 20th Movie Simulation combines faithful color reproduction with a strong hue, making it suitable for all subjects and situations.
- CLASSIC CHROME
- Designed to reproduce a look similar to the documentary magazines of the century. Classic Chrome's low saturation and rigid tonal gradation in shadows make it the perfect choice for documentary photography with a touch of realism.
- CLASSIC NEG.
- Based on SUPERIA, a color negative film loved by generations of photographers, this film simulation mode offers high-contrast tonal gradation. It adds depth and definition to colors by adjusting their tones in highlights and shadows, while reducing saturation.
- VELVIA/VIVID
- Based on FUJICHROME Velvia, an ultra-vivid reverse film designed for professionals, this film simulation mode offers richer, high-contrast colors than PROVIA/STANDARD. It is a favorite of landscape photographers.
- ASTIA/SOFT
- Based on FUJICHROME ASTIA, a reverse film designed for fashion portraits, this mode prioritizes the smooth and faithful reproduction of skin tones while depicting vivid blue skies and greenery.
- FOR THE NEG. STD.
- Based on PRO160NS, a color negative film for professionals, this Film Simulation mode has smooth tonal gradation and excellent skin tone reproduction. Ideal for portrait photography under carefully controlled lighting. The neutral hue lends itself well to post-processing.
- NOSTALGIC NEG.
- Designed to recreate the look of images in old photo albums, NOSTALGIC Neg. It produces images with rich colours in the shadows – and a soft tint in the midtones and highlights.
- ACROS
- Based on ACROS, a monochrome film known for superfine grain, this film simulation mode delivers rich shadow detail and excellent sharpness, while adding grain at high ISOs and recreating the stunning textured feel of monochrome.

Chrome Effect
- For highly saturated subjects, the Color Chrome Effect adds depth, detail, and vibrancy at three intensities to shades of red, green, or yellow, where detail might otherwise be lost. Or use Color Chrome FX Blue to bring out the blue tones of an image.
- Grain Effect
- From subtle textures to the gritty look of traditional high-ISO films, with the FUJIFILM X-M5 you can easily add natural-looking grain to your photos. Control the grain level to get the right amount of texture in any image.
- White Balance Shift
- For white balance, choose Auto, Custom, Color Temperature, or a series of preset options. White balance can be adjusted in the WB Shift feature with red (R) and blue (B) color coordinates.
High-quality recording
The FUJIFILM X-M5 supports in-camera card recording to your SD card at 6.2K/30p 4:2:2 10-bit, as well as high-quality video recording at 4K/60p and 1080/240p in a compact, lightweight body.
Digital Image Stabilization
The FUJIFILM X-M5 uses a powerful digital image stabilizer that combats camera shake for smooth, professional images. It is effective whether you are standing still or moving to keep track of a subject.
Microphone Direction Setting
FUJIFILM X-M5 is the first model in the X Series to feature three built-in microphones for the highest quality audio. Four different audio modes are available: Surround, Front Priority, Rear Priority, or Front and Back Priority, giving you the flexibility to get crystal clear sound from any direction.
Noise Reduction Setting
The new microphones offer more than just directional control – a versatile noise reduction feature has also been added. It is now possible to reduce noise that continues at a constant frequency; for example, the sound of air conditioning or wind noise.

The FUJIFILM X-M5 features a new Short Movie mode for creating social content that's easy to share on various social networks. 15, 30 or 60 second clips can be recorded in the 9:16 vertical format without the need to turn the camera on its side. An on-screen timer makes it easy to see how much time is left while recording.

Share content quickly
The FUJIFILM X-M5 allows you to select from low bit rates of 8 Mbps and 25 Mbps. Choosing these rates minimises the time it takes to transfer files to smartphones and other devices, so you can get content online quickly. In addition, a USB-C connection allows high-speed transfer of video files of 4GB or more to Android and iOS devices.
XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ
With a sleek profile and a versatile focal length range, the XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ is a 23-69mm equivalent zoom, characterized by its compact and retractable design. The first power zoom lens in the X-series lineup, this lens enables electronic zoom control for smooth focal length adjustments.
It has an optical image stabilization system that minimizes the appearance of camera shake by three stops for clearer images in the hand. Complementing the handling assets, the optical design incorporates aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements to improve sharpness and clarity, and has a Super EBC coating that suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy.
