Focus on performance
Deep learning and cross-type AF identify and track subjects with phenomenal accuracy. Next-generation eye control means AF areas can be selected by looking at the subject, while the DIGIC Accelerator processor powers the Priority to Action mode, which automatically determines the main subject in football, volleyball and basketball, moving AF areas accordingly.
The EOS R1's AF system can automatically recognise and distinguish and track different subjects, even if they are momentarily obscured or small in the frame.

The speed you need to shoot the best work of your career
Capture fleeting moments with a customizable continuous shooting speed of up to 40fps. An innovative overlaid sensor enables a maximum shutter speed of 1/64,000 sec. and virtually no shutter distortion. Pre-shooting allows photographers to capture moments before they press the shutter release button.
Step back in time with pre-continuous shooting
Press the shutter button halfway to start buffering 20 frames continuously. The moment you take the picture, these "pre-captured" frames are also saved. With the EOS R1's maximum shooting speed of 40fps, you'll record half a second before pressing the shutter button. At slower shooting speeds, the pre-shooting time increases, giving you even more flexibility.
Hybrid creativity, shooting videos and stills at the same time
Shoot stunning 6K video using frame rates up to 60p and using a wide variety of formats. Dual shooting lets you cover the same event with Full HD video and 17-megapixel (16:9) photos – capturing photos and videos separately and simultaneously.

RF Lens Mount
Designed to maximise lens design possibilities, the RF Lens Holder enables optical designs that were previously impossible, as well as more portable lenses that you can take with you more often. The EOS R1 uses the lens diaphragm ring for stills and video.
Cross-type AF
The EOS R1's cross-type AF is sensitive to horizontal and vertical lines, providing more precision and sensitivity, especially in low-light, low-contrast conditions.
