The GP-VPT3 is your perfect travel companion: a three-in-one pickup grip with a detachable wireless controller. It's a shooting grip that easily switches between front-facing and outward-facing shots, a mini tripod for mounting the camera, and a detachable remote (also available separately as RMT-VP2) for operating the camera remotely.
Simplified camera operation with the detachable remote
Thanks to the camera's wireless connection and ergonomic design, the shooting grip is comfortable to use, with the camera's key controls directly under your thumb. You can also turn the grip into a mini tripod and remove the remote, allowing for seamless camera operation even from a distance, ideal for still compositions and group shooting.
Manual shooting with freedom of tilt angle and direction
The shape of the handle ensures stable handling with the camera fixed, so you can operate the camera in your hand by freely adjusting the tilt angle. A handy button unlocks the head, so you can rotate the camera direction from outward-facing shooting for a selfie in one fluid motion.
Simple and quick transition between grip and tripod
You can quickly switch between grip and tripod uses. Shoot handheld with your grip or open it on a tripod for steady stills and videos, group shots, landscapes, or solo shooting.
Load capacity of 1.5 kg
You can attach a camera with a lens mounted weighing up to 1.5 kg in total, for handheld shooting with a steady grip or steady shooting with the grip used as a tripod.
Use as a tripod and operate the camera remotely
The detachable wireless controller offers even greater flexibility for your shooting. With the camera mounted and the grip open in tripod mode, simply remove the magnetically attached remote to capture photos and videos and control key settings from a distance of approximately 10m.
One-handed control
The front panel of the supplied RMT-VP2 remote includes the shutter, MOVIE (record), AF-ON, C1 and zoom/focus buttons, allowing you to record videos or take photos with one hand. If you pre-assign a frequently used function to the camera's AF-ON or C1 button, pressing the corresponding button on the remote provides the same function, allowing you to customise the controls to suit your shooting requirements.
Light indicating remote operation and camera status
An LED light illuminates or flashes to indicate remote operation and camera status, allowing for easy and immediate checking during shooting.
Stable wireless control
The supplied RMT-VP2 wireless controller communicates with the camera via Bluetooth®, providing more stable connectivity than infrared communication, even in the presence of obstacles or sunlight. The wireless communication range is approximately 10 m, for comfortable remote shooting.
Connection to multiple cameras and smartphones
In addition to Sony cameras, the remote can control a selection of Xperia™ smartphones, so you can upgrade all your devices with new shooting freedom.
Reliability for any shooting environment
Thanks to its dust and moisture resistance, the GP-VPT3 and its RMT-VP2 remote are ready for any shooting environment. In addition, since you don't need to connect any cables or receivers to the camera, you don't need to open the terminal cover of the camera body, which improves its own resistance to dust and moisture.
