Advanced digital signal processing provides three switchable directions of direction in a versatile microphone: superdirectional, unidirectional and omnidirectional.
Super-steering in a compact microphone
Eight high-performance microphone units work in tandem with a newly developed beamforming algorithm to deliver extremely clear steering that effectively rejects off-axis sound. All of this is achieved in an extraordinarily compact microphone that is only 99.3 mm long.
Great quality sound with low noise
When connected via the Multi Interface Shoe of a compatible camera with a built-in digital audio interface, the audio signal is transferred directly to the camera in digital format, so that no degradation can occur. A simple switch also allows compatibility with various cameras equipped with an analog interface.
Mechanical noise suppression
An advanced design with shock and vibration suppression effectively minimizes low-frequency or handling noise that can degrade audio quality. The absence of connection cables also means that no noise is mechanically transmitted to the microphone through the cables and connectors.
Effective filter for clear sound
A high-pass filter that eliminates subsonic noise is implemented through digital signal processing in order to maximize audio quality during the recording phase and therefore reduce the need for complex processes in post-production.
Cable-free connection
Simply attach the microphone to the Multi Interface Shoe on a compatible camera for direct audio and power connections, without the need for additional batteries or cables. Sony's Multi Interface Shoe offers connectivity and intelligent controls for various accessories, so you can enjoy maximum flexibility and mobility when shooting with the α System.
Essential controls
Recording level control, analogue output for compatibility with a wide range of cameras, and an attenuator that allows you to easily set optimal signal levels ensure the versatility of this microphone. This level of control can contribute to a hassle-free and worry-free post-production process.
Wind protection provided
The ECM-B1M comes with a fur wind shield that can reduce wind noise when shooting outdoors.
