RODE VideoMic Pro w/ Rycote Lyre Suspension Mount - Microphone
Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shockmount for use in camcorders, DSLRs and portable audio recorders, as the main audio source.
At the heart of the microphone is a high-resolution 1/2" condenser capsule, which provides excellent audio transmission quality via a 3.5mm mini-jack connector (mono signal output for the left and right channels).
A super-cardioid polar pattern ensures that ambient sound is minimized and allows the recording to focus on the subject in front of the camera.
An innovative suspension system separates the capsule and the electronics from their assembly, providing isolation from external factors that can cause indesirable noise and vibrations in the microphone.
On the back of the computer are the power controls, filters and levels. In addition to the microphone's built-in filter (40Hz-20kHz), there is a selectable "high-pass" filter, which prevents the sound of wind and cars from being recorded.
Underneath these controls are the level settings, which attenuate or increase the indicated level as needed.
The -10dB attenuation (PAD) is ideal for recording loud sound sources such as live music, motorsport, or interviews where the subject is very close to the camera.
The level increase to 20dB is designed for use with DSLR cameras.
This boost in the microphone output allows the user to reduce the level of the chamber's preamp (or mic input level), reducing the amount of noise generated by the chamber.
The microphone uses a standard-size hot shoe mount for camera use and has a 3/8" thread on the base.
It is powered by 1 single 9V battery (not included) and provides over 70 hours of recording.
