With both wired and wireless connections available, the ECM-S1 portable streaming microphone is a compact, lightweight high-performance unit that delivers clear audio, low noise, minimal lag, and high quality for easy recording or live streaming, both indoors and outdoors.
High-quality microphone capsules for clear voice recording
Despite its compact size and light weight, the ECM-S1 is equipped with three large-diameter (14 mm) microphone capsules that deliver clear, high-quality sound recording with a flat frequency response, particularly in the low-midrange voice band, while suppressing noise. Great sound quality contributes significantly to the overall impression made on viewers by a well-produced video.
Low intrinsic noise levels provide clear sound
The microphone's low intrinsic noise and wide dynamic range allow for clear pickup of even low-level sounds. Designed for streaming, the microphone is specially tuned to capture the rich textures of the human voice near the mouth clearly and naturally.
Selectable directivity depending on the scenario
Three directional sound pickup modes are provided: Unidirectional, Omnidirectional and Stereo. A button on the side of the microphone allows the user to select the appropriate directivity for the scenario or situation of use.
Noise suppressor filter functions
A digital noise suppressor filter removes background noise, and a low-cut filter on the side of the microphone reduces the low-frequency sound of wind, air conditioning, and vibration. More efficient workflows with less noise removal in post-production.
Pop filter to suppress plosives
A pop filter is included to avoid the annoying popping sounds that can occur due to vocal plosives when the microphone is placed close to the speaker's mouth, allowing voices, voiceovers, and other audio to be recorded in optimal conditions.
Lightweight and compact frame design
The ECM-S1 features compact and lightweight microphone/transmitter and receiver units that offer excellent functionality and high digital sound quality. It can be used in a variety of environments, indoors or outdoors, with a camera.
Operability for real-time confirmation and adjustment
An independent AUDIO LEVEL knob allows real-time adjustment of the audio input level with the top knob. In addition, the connection status between the microphone and receiver can be checked with the LINK light.
Suitable for long hours of outdoor shooting
The receiver and microphone have built-in batteries. The receiver can be used on direct power when connected to the camera's Multi Interface Shoe or to a PC or other device. The microphone can be used continuously for about 13 hours when fully charged. You can use the microphone for long periods without worrying about the battery.
Greater flexibility in audio recording with wireless streaming
Bluetooth 5.3 (BLE) and LC3plus codec enable reduced power consumption, latency, and high sound quality. Communication is possible up to 150 m5 in locations with an unobstructed line of sight, for flexible placement of the outdoor microphone.
Supports multiple mounting and fixing methods
The microphone can be attached to a stand while recording, and the microphone angle adjusted forward and backward. Also, the 1/4 in. Under the microphone can be used to mount the microphone on a tripod, or a conversion adapter can be used to attach the microphone to a support arm.
Multi-interface support for minimal audio delay and cable-free power supply
Connecting the receiver to a Sony camera with Multi Interface Shoe, such as one of the α™ series interchangeable-lens digital cameras or vlogging camera, eliminates the need to use a separate cable to supply power or for audio interface.
Wireless sound recording in conjunction with a camera
By connecting the receiver to a Sony camera with Multi Interface Shoe and Digital Audio Interface, high-quality audio can be captured and transmitted digitally without degradation, with wireless connection allowing maximum shooting freedom.
USB digital audio output
Both the microphone and receiver are equipped with a USB Type-C® port that offers a 48 kHz/24-bit digital audio output. This allows you to connect the microphone to multiple devices, to film and stream with a variety of connection methods.
Microphone audio input/output via a 3.5 mm mini-jack (stereo)
A 3.5 mm mini-jack (stereo) is provided for the receiver's audio output, allowing use with cameras, PCs, IC recorders, and other devices not equipped with a Multi Interface Shoe.
Audio monitoring with headphones
The microphone is equipped with a headphone output input, allowing audio monitoring via headphones (sold separately) 11 while recording via USB connection.
