RODE SM3-R Shock Mount
The Rode SM3-R is a suspension for shotgun microphones, with a new Lyre system.
Lyre is the name given to the technology of suspension of microphones without elastic bands, created and licensed by Rycote, and already used in several Røde products, such as the Videomic range of microphones.
Therefore, this technology now comes to this type of suspensions – SM3-R and SM4-R – thus eliminating the need to obtain replacement silicone elastics later (since these suspensions do not have elastics).
In addition to this innovation compared to the previous SM3 (now discontinued), this suspension has four attachment points for the dual suspensions, making it simple to adapt the suspension to the microphone in question.
The difference between this product and its SM4-R counterpart is the type of fixing.
The SM3-R suspension comes prepared for mounting on a video/photo camera, making use of the flash shoe that these cameras usually have.
The SM4-R model is identical, but with a 5/8" clamping pipe (with 5/8" multiplier adapter included).
