NISI Polarizing Circular Filter 86mm
This NiSi 86mm circular polarizing filter is designed for use with NiSi 100mm or C4 series filter holder kits.
It helps reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to the reflection of a non-metallic surface.
Sunlight naturally becomes partially polarized due to the reflection of electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter in what appears to be a haze.
A polarizing filter organizes and filters this directional polarized light perpendicular to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction in glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in sky and foliage saturation.
A circular polarizer differs only from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter-wave plane in addition to the linear polarization filter.
The addition of this quarter-wave plane is to circularly polarize linearly polarized light for the use of autofocus and exposure functions.
Due to the way light is split and filtered with a linear polarizer, the autofocus and exposure accuracy become distorted during use.
When light becomes circularly polarized, it allows the use of these functions.
This filter is uncoated and is constructed from optical glass for clarity and features an aluminum alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.
