FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55

FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55
Designed for filmmakers, built around a large format sensor.
At the heart of the GFX ETERNA 55 is a powerful large-format sensor: 44x33 mm (55 mm diagonally), far superior to the traditional 35 mm full-frame. Its expansive surface registers light in stunning detail, delivering a cinematic aesthetic with unique depth-of-field characteristics that standard formats simply can't reproduce.

The Fujifilm look
Based on more than 90 years of Fujifilm's pioneering film color science, the GFX ETERNA 55's large-format sensor delivers digital images with the depth, warmth and distinctive tones traditionally reserved for film.
GFX ETERNA 55 is designed for filmmakers looking to express their vision with authenticity and emotional impact, creating not only images, but stories that resonate.

Releasing film stocks
The GFX ETERNA 55 has 20 movie simulation modes. In addition, by using Fujifilm's proprietary wide dynamic range, the wide F-Log2 C/F-Gamut C range, filmmakers can access ten expertly crafted film simulation LUTs that reproduce Fujifilm's iconic films in digital format.
From Velvia and ASTIA to CLASSIC CHROME and ETERNA, these famous films serve as a powerful creative post-production tool, reigniting the distinctive Memory Color that has long been admired in photography. This goes beyond simple color correction. It is a digital narrative imbued with the rich heritage and expressive depth of analog cinema.

Electronic variable ND filter
The GFX ETERNA 55 has a built-in electronic variable ND filter, designed specifically for its large-format sensor. With a range of ND 0.6 to 2.1, it offers up to seven stops of light reduction with smooth and precise control in increments up to ND 0.015. Thanks to Fujifilm's patented precision engineering, this filter allows for precise and seamless density adjustments with minimal color shift, even while shooting videos.
By instantly adapting to changing lighting conditions on the set, it allows filmmakers to adjust the desired exposure quickly, significantly increasing efficiency.

Dual Base ISO
The GFX ETERNA 55's large-format sensor, at 44x33 mm, is approximately 1.7 times larger than a standard full-frame sensor. Its dual base ISOs of 800 and 3200 maximise performance, delivering smooth tonal gradations and exceptional low-noise characteristics. Even in challenging lighting conditions such as shadows, backlit and nighttime scenes, it minimises the digital noise often associated with these conditions, faithfully recording the atmosphere of the scene. The sensor of the GFX ETERNA 55 is about to become a new source of inspiration for filmmakers.

Dynamic range
The GFX ETERNA 55's wide Log gamma range, F-Log2 C, allows the large-format sensor to reach more than 14 stops of dynamic range. From deep shadows to bright highlights, it captures the subtle nuances of light without compromise, allowing for precise adjustments in line with the creator's vision in post-production. Combined with its wide color gamut, this opens up virtually limitless possibilities for color expression and contrast.

Optical low-pass filter
The GFX ETERNA 55's large-format sensor is equipped with an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) specially designed and optimized for film production. It employs a four-point separation method that effectively reduces moiré and false colors. With a focus on the smooth, refined image quality required by cinematic expression, the GFX ETERNA 55 produces highly detailed images that maintain a pleasing smoothness without excessive sharpening.

Autofocus
With a GF lens attached, the GFX ETERNA 55 offers highly accurate autofocus. The autofocus algorithm uses the same advanced technology as the FUJIFILM GFX100 II, using deep learning-based subject detection to analyze scenes quickly and accurately. This allows the camera to maintain sharp focus, even with the large format sensor's characteristic shallow depth of field.

Multiple formats
The GFX ETERNA 55 supports 4:3 Open Gate recording, making full use of the wide image area of its large-format sensor. In addition to FUJINON GF and Premista lenses, it also supports DCI 8K/4K recording with standard PL lenses compatible with 35mm. In addition, it is compatible with anamorphic lenses and Super 35 format lenses, allowing filmmakers to freely select the desired field of view according to their creative vision. Combining the rich unique visual expression of a large sensor with wide compatibility between lens types and formats, this camera becomes a powerful creative tool, expanding the freedom of filmmaking to new heights.

Anamorphic ready
The GFX ETERNA 55's large-format 4:3 sensor is ideal for the unique cinematic qualities of anamorphic lenses. The elongated aspect ratio, elliptical bokeh, and horizontal lens flare characteristic of these optics were widely adopted in filmmaking to enrich the narrative. The GFX ETERNA 55 offers real-time compression monitoring on set, providing a clear and accurate preview while shooting. By combining the sensor's vast image circle with the distinctive properties of anamorphic lenses, the GFX ETERNA 55 brings unprecedented depth and scale to your creative output.
